I just bought a 2011 Yamaha SX210 with the one piece bow filler. One of my wife's favorite features of the boat is the large bow filler. The problem is that storing it is a pain in the butt and it's too large for my wife to install herself. I know the later models have the bow filler split into two parts. Has anyone tried doing this for the older models?

I don't think the structure of the seat would be too difficult to build. I am a little worried about matching upholstery and making it look professional. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a picture of yours? I wonder if it is the same as mine. Likely so. Problem is that if you unupholster it, cut the bottom and then try to use the same material to recover it, you will not have enough (you need more to go up/down the new sides you are creating). So it would seem that finding either a second filler or matching fabric would be the key thing to your project...

I thought about doing this because you can't stow that thing easily, so it stays home. You would definitely have to add more supports for the seat to rest on also. I was just going to have a local upholstery company cut it in half and redo the whole thing with new vinyl, can be that expensive.

My plan was to start from scratch just in case I mess it up. The upholstery on the current one has a few tears anyhow. Thats what kind of sparked this. If I was going to reupholster it anyhow why not make it work how I want. I'll take some pictures tonight. I need to find out what kind of plastic board is used as the base and what strength of foam. Might be an off season project.

I believe the plastic below is King Starboard. Do a Google search on it--you can find it lots of places, but none of them are cheap. Lots of people will instead go to Walmart and find a cheap cutting board (for example, when mounting amps or something), but I don't know that I would do that for a cushion people will sit on...

We use ours all the time; but it is cumbersome. I think it is a good idea if recovering anyway. It might work as two pieces; but I also wonder about a stainless hinge in the middle so it just folds on itself cushy sides out for a good bear huggable form.
