Where would one find that rating info? I've never looked and always just assumed my receiver was plenty heavy. I'm sure my F250 is ok, but I should probably check the Tahoe.
Found out my F150 hitch is not going to cut it and I will need to go with a Class IV to pull the boat and trailer. Thankfully mine appears to be a direct swap of my stock receiver unlike some of the newer Ford’s. A guy on the Moomba forum suggested I look into the Curt Class IV hitch Class 4 Trailer Hitch with 2" Receiver. It’s a little more expensive than others I’ve found but it is rated for 10,000 lbs even though I’d never pull anything near that high. What are you Class IV hitch guys using?
My F250 hitch was all rusted up in the receiver so I just replaced with this Curt Class 5 on Amazon. Probably more than I'll ever need but I have no complaints, bolted right up easy peasy.

This should help you retrieve and use the methods around the dock https://jetboaters.net/threads/how-i-use-no-wake-mode-and-tde-to-retrieve-my-boat.17161/ . The key to jet boating is you must use thrust if you want the boat to go where you want it. Fins help but no matter what you will always need thrust to direct the boat. These boats can be maneuvered in tight quarters even bone stock. Just takes some practice. That's why I recommend people go in a large cove, toss out a fender without the line of course and then practice pulling up next to it over and over from different angles and sides. Before long you will get the hang of it. It's much easier and less stressful using a soft floating fender as a tool to learn than a real stationary object like a dock lol.
@tabbibus This is spot on. The thread @haknslash has linked there is a great description.
I got the "pleasure" of spending 3 hours in the rain waiting on a lock to clear last September. Anchoring wasn't an option, and we didn't want to venture too far from the lights around the lock, as it was well past sunset. No better time to practice low speed maneuvering. I was able to fine tune the techniques needed to spin the boat on it's axis, as well as walk it sideways. Lots and Lots and Lots of forward/reverse transitions, and lots and lots and lots of left/right transitions. The order that you link those 4 positions togethor coupled with the constant thrust from No Wake Mode (usually on position 1 or 2, but rarely 3) and you can make the jet do whatever you want. Easily out does my old I/O in every scenario.
@haknslash .....Love the new boat. I'm not much on the metal flake, but otherwise it's awesome. Hope you enjoy it! I'm not posting much in this thread, but I am following along!
Just got my build sheet from my dealer that came from Skiers Choice! Looking at an April spray date. I don’t have the exact date just yet to see if I can plan the tour or not. Hopefully I’ll be able to go see her built! One step closer to reality! ??
Looking at the break-in procedure this morning for the Raptor engine and is is going to suck compared to the Yamaha!! The break-in for the Yamaha was like an hour or two but the Raptor is like 10 hours and zero filling of ballast!! Gonna have to stretch that out in 2-3 days on some of the bigger lakes for sure.
Swung by the dealer to see how bad my truck would sag with a Max hooked up to it and it looks like it’s balanced very good and not a lot of excessive tongue weight. My truck only sagged I’d guess 2-3”. Once I cut out the Class 3 hitch and install my Class 4 I’ll be good to go.
Took a few pics of a few other Max’s while I was there. I was wondering if these trailers came with boat buddie hubs. Never seen these “hybrid oil - no service required” hubs before. Found this thread about them The Vault liquid trailer hub maintenance
Nice to see the Stoltz roller come factory from Boatmate. No hard plastic like Shorelander.
This red and black with graphic was nice!
Also saw this Mojo that has the same Ultra Blue metal flake against white I’m going with. Looks real sharp IMO!
That’s good to hear. Mine is a 2013 with the 5.0. I have 66,000 miles right now and it’s been good so far. The 5.0 is pretty stout. I’m running a tune and it will turn over 35’s easily. I almost think the 5.0 would work in boat applications but guess the 6.2 will produce more torque.
Woohoo I got a message from my dealer today and my boat is scheduled to begin production on April 24th!! I was hoping it would be a little sooner but April is better than late May . I'm heading up to the factory on April 29th to see it while it's at the 75-80% stage. Figured I'd take my ole man with me since he's a boat and manufacturing nut too. So pumped I had to make a countdown timer to keep me entertained until then Boat build production begins!! The waiting has been the hardest part so far but we've had tons to keep us busy with the house. Hoping these next 6 weeks will fly by!
Also planning to take the AR192 to the dealership either this weekend or next. Guess that will be good bye for her
