Thoughts and demo rides of wake / towsports boats: Moomba Max, Axis A22, MB Sports

This is what is keeping me torn, I would likely need to get a 1,000# bag to throw in the middle of the boat to make up for having a light crew.

We threw an offer out to the dealer on the Makai, if they reject it then I will throw one on the Mojo. We didn't do a ton of options on the Makai so I am guessing they wont take our offer, even through I felt it was very fair for both them and us.

If you don’t have storage for larger bags you could do lead. Of course if you tow that would be a pain in the butt.

I’m going to swap out my 540 midship bags and put my 1,000 lb stock rear bags in the midship. This will give me around 5,480 lbs of ballast. I have a bunch of bags in my garage I intend to sell at some point.

I would think you could get 7%. I think that is around what I got although it was a mix between what they gave me on my trade-in and what they came off the Max. The Moombas don’t have as high of a mark-up as the Supra’s do so getting 15-20% off isn’t likely IMO.

Yes having a good dealer is great. We have concierge package. They come to our home for all service and most warranty work through 2021. So when we winterize in a few weeks its all done at our home. We appreciate that and dont have to tow it to them. Any warranty work that requires a visit to the dealership they will come pick it up and bring it back when they are done. Make sure to get the boat cover and swim platform cover.
Also make sure to get the 7' screen. We have auto wake 2.0 and its more of a gimmick than anything. What I strongly recommend is the G6 ballast pumps. Over the G3. We can fill in about 3.5-4 min flat. We can also empty extremely fast as well. Get the 6 pumps, you will thank me later

I have G6 ballast as well. Be sure you’re filling or draining above idle speeds. Otherwise you can burn up a relay module. Been there lol.

I got my swim platform cover made by Josh Nance. He can make them custom with different threading or material colors if you want. I think it’s cheaper than the factory option as well. I did blue thread to match the boat and add just a little custom flare. Just throwing that out there But I do agree to get one if you like your swim platform being protected.

He came back and said all he would do was $100,150 on the makai and $100,825 on the mojo. The difference being the Makai was tower prewired only and underwater light, the mojo had the 10s and no underwater lights, the rest was spec'd the same. So the search continues.

Ahh. That sucks. IDK gotta choose your battles. $2150 might be worth it to some. But not at the end of the season.
But whats sad is if you dont buy it, someone will next week for whatever he is asking.

That 'sometimes" is a way to save money. Not really in today's market. But sometimes.
We looked preowned but the difference of 7-8K wasn't worth buying used. So new it was.

That was for a Jan delivery too. He wasn't going to have any holding cost.

I have been looking but most want 95-105k. They have options that I dont care about though. 450 motor/trailer wheels or brakes. We wet slip so the trailer I dont care about other than to store it in the winter.

We ordered a new Max and I’ve seen used ones for sale more than we are paying...makes no sense.
Plus the 2021 Max’s have more options that are now standard..we added everything we wanted for extra options..still cheaper!

Plus I hate buying used now as I get older...probably because when I was younger I had no choice due to lack of funds!

I‘ve read these come prewired for underwater lights so if that is not a biggie for you then you could get them later. I have not crawled in the engine compartment to verify the wiring is there but it’s been mentioned by several on the forums over the years.

My Mastercraft has options pre-wired also, it also has the pre-wired switch for underwater lights, it also has wire running to the amp rack that is large enough for any stereo factory options, I'm glad it only has the base stereo system since I would has replaced most of it anyways, it may also have the tower pre-wired. I'm finally picking it up Friday so I can start the winter mods.

Well we decided on a Mojo. The extra 1.5 foot would be great for non-surfing just hanging out, I think the Mojo will be better off out of the box. As Haknslash said the Makai will take more lead, which our lift wont support. Ending up spending $99,750 for it, MSRP 104,290. While not the best deal out there by any means it is close enough. I have 5k in sales tax credits to offset the tax on the new boat and they will expire in a couple months so I don't think I will get an additional 5k off by waiting until spring.

We have a November build date. So it should be at the dealer around first if December. We are going to have them hold it until Jan 5th so I don’t have to pay personal property tax on it in 2021. In Missouri you pay ppt on everything you own 1/1 of the year.

my sales tax credits expire on 1/20 so even though I would have liked to get another $1,500 off the price The timing will save me some serious tax money.

thanks I left off the rear facing seat and the transom radio controls. Hoping they will throw those in.
