I didnt do gator step on the trailer as we will really only use it to tow it home in the fall and back in the spring. otherwise it will sit outside in the sun so I didnt want the gator step to just bake in the sun.
I’ve had some people ask me about the wake on the Max at wake boarding speeds. I don’t wakeboard so I can’t tell you how the wake feels and the shape or size when back there on it but it looks clean and has a nice ramp shape even without ballast.
Alright... I’m looking for recommendations on what boats to add demo next year. MB and Moomba are top of my list and look like they both have good dealer options nearby.
Budget is flexible, but I’m sure I’ll get domestic pushback if I go much beyond $120K or so. Primary attributes I’m seeking are: surfing (we trailer a lot so I’d prefer to not add a ton of lead) and build quality. Additionally, we boat in some lakes that have some shallow spots. The 36” draft on boat like the Supremes makes me nervous!
Any brand you guys would recommend I add to our 2021 demo list?
With that max budget I'd encourage you to look at pretty much everything you can lay your eyes on in your area. I'd throw in Supreme, Mastercraft NXT, Malibu, Axis and maybe even a Nautique 210 (might not be achievable but worth a try). I love our MB but it is now 5 model years old and I'm a little less fond of the design of the newest MBs (currently being called "Alpha") - I'd be looking for a "classic" B52 23 in the MBs.
Thanks @OrangeTJ! Normal times, I’d be heading to boat show(s) this winter to crawl around as many wake boats as possible and try to get an initial feel on each dealer. Not sure that’s gonna be possible.
Now that my boating season is wrapped up, one of my winter projects is going to be building a spreadsheet with all the different boat possibilities. Assuming no boat show, I’ll narrow down to 3-4 to go visit the dealer and set up demos next year.
If I had to order my 2021 again I would def get the transom steps with led backup lights. I would also get the side storage bins (i hope I can order these) and I would get all white exterior. Mine is mostly black. lol
I would also do 4 tower speakers instead of 2. But that can easily be added.
And so glad I got the bimini surf board pockets, we use those to store our noodles
Got word my spray date is 11/3 with a finish date of 11/11. From there it will need to be shipped to the dealer. We are going to have them hold it until 1/5 so I don't have to pay property tax on it in 2021.

What are you towing with and how big of an elevation gain when towing? This situation played out for me as I tow 120 miles one way to our lake property with a 4,500 ft elevation gain. I went from a 3,500lbs boat/trailer to a 7,000lbs boat/trailer towing with 5.3l Chevy Tahoe. Even though the Tahoe is rated for 8,500lbs, the back and forth over the Mt took a toll on my Tahoe dropping to 45 mph is sections going over the Mt. Due to mechanical concerns I upgraded to a F-350 with the 6.7l. Just be cautious if you do tow a lot the weight on these increase pretty quick and I would say most keep some lead in the boat to fine tune the waves.

Yep, its stupid. In Missouri you pay property tax on vehicles/boats/rvs etc that have a title every year you own it. You are billed on everything you own on 1/1 of the year. If you own it on that day you have to pay the tax on it, even if you sell it.
We get double screwed. Sales tax on the purchase and a property tax for every year you own it. I register everything at our lake house to save money. The tax rate at our main home is 9.xx% and the tax rate at our lake house is 5.2%. The property tax valuation is the market value X 19% X your tax rate. So for the new Mojo it would be 78k (msrp) x .19 x .052, by picking it up on the 5th (the first day they are open after the 1st) it saves me $771. the second year that its out they go by a value instead of the MSRP.

Good points and dang thats a heavy tow burden through the mountains!
We currently tow with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, 5.7 v8. Max towing is 6,800 lbs. I’m planning to getting an F150 or Dodge Ram 1500 with max tow package to get to 10,000+ Lbs towing capacity.
Good news is that we’re in Michigan and everywhere I tow is basically flat. We tow 30 miles or so one way going out on local lakes. Plus we do a few longer trips (150-250 miles one way) to enjoy the big lakes for a couple weeks in the summer.
So last Saturday I went to Madison, WI to look at some Malibu boats. First was a 21' Malibu on their showroom. Not impressed with the lack of a walk through on the stern, the bow "tub only seating", and the real lack of quality. 100k+ boat and the seats aren't on hinges when you open them? Carpet underneath the bolster seat?? The 2021 model in the showroom had the tower folded because it actually broke and was waiting on warranty repair?! LOL damn.
The salesman, who was really nice, took me to see a 23' Malibu they had in another building. This one had a lot more room (obviously) but still had the same goofy design in the bow where they front ballast tank prevented the bow seating to actually have a walking area. Furthermore, my wife and cousin attempted to both sit in the bow, each on opposite sides, and their feet had to cross significantly in that position.
The 23' had a nice Wet Sounds system that sounded decent. Not sure how it compared to my current JL, seemed to close enough. This boat had the Monsoon engine, and when I asked about some of the issues with those motors the sales guy was like "yeah well, what do you expect when you build your own engine?" OK - hard pass on that. This was another 100k+ dollar boat, still no walk through, still cheap feeling vinyl and cushions, and honestly, really disappointing for the price. And the swim platform ladder wasn't included or available? Sheeshe....
I'm still struggling to understand where all the cost (price) is in these boats? Are the engines really that much more to build? Are they laying the fiberglass differently? At least on the Malibu, there certainly wasn't anything there that screamed "this is why this boat is so expensive" - seemed more like "we charge this much because we can."
