Hi Everyone--
Does anyone know the tongue weight for when trailering a 2008 SX 230? My vehicle is rated for 6K pounds and a tongue load of 600lbs.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

weight of boat + trailer, its 10 to 15% of those, you should be within capacity of your tow vehicle.

Shorelander recommends 8%, tough to get it there. I am running a bit over 9%

From shorelandr website. 5 to me is too light but 7 seems doable if your trailer can be adjusted properly. 15% is way too much

ROFL 5-7% will never happen on my boat with a dual axle.
Just stating what they recommend. Its in black and white. I even have called and spoken with them to verify. So while it may seem impossible it must not be if thats what the manufacturer recommends. If you have issues getting it adjusted them i would call the manufacturer to ask how its accomplished

I dont know of anyone running a dual axle with a yamaha at 5% havent seen it I n the boards here either. Unless i missed it. Our boats are coming set up from the factory 15% or more. I think it has to do with the shape off the hull and how the weight is distributed on the yamahas.

I did speak with shorelander when i bought the tongue scale and trying to figure it out. I was told, by them, it may not be possible based on the boat and the weight for a given length. They recommended for my boat 8% should be good. So i put it close.

If you start sliding the axle too far forward or the boat too far backward you start creating other issues.

8% is great in my opinion, like i said 5% seems way to light and could cause major issues if you end up distributing too much weight aft and causing it to be even lighter.

When i saw that i wondered how long did it take for that idiot to realize why was his trailer moving like that. I could imagine him pulling over and looking at the tires and scratching his head trying to figure whats wrong. Then drive off again only for it to sway yet again

Thank you for the info! Do you happen to know how much a standard bunk trailer weighs? Tows a Yamaha 23foot boat with dual axels.

2008 SX230 trailer was 1137lbs. The spreadsheet in the sticky showing boat features will show trailer weights.

Most dual axle trailers were from 1020-1241lbs.
