Question in the title. Got a 4 hour ride coming up tomorrow at highways speeds. Do i leaving the deluxe premium mooring cover on, or take it off?

If it was me I’d take it off and make sure all of your seat cushions are either well secured or stow them in the storage compartments.

I’ve towed thousands of miles with the cover on with no issues. I take the front pole out and use an inflatable to help support the cover in the bow area to give it more area support than the top of the plastic on the pole.

Whats your point ?

You posted just to show you decided to tow with the cover on?
Thats how I brought it home back in January because of the shit weather (stayed under 55mph on back roads). However, its supposed to be nice this weekend and not sure what to do. This is the first small, towable boat that I have had. Everything else my family has owned was twice the size and stayed in the water.

I am asking if they pro's outweigh the con's and is that cover made to tow with at 70mph. Charlotte to Wilmington

On. No poles. If you expect bugs, and you have a wake tower, you can use painters tape on the bow facing areas to make cleanup easier. Also, consider cutting a slit in a pool noodle lengthwise and putting it over the top frame of your windshield before you put the cover on. That'll help with wind-induced rubbing on that painted area.

I see… @Babin Farms has a good suggestion with the inflatable in the front to support the cover across a wide area as opposed to the single center pole.

In my experience, with my CC boat, I towed it 1700 miles round trip on a journey but would not do it again as there was too much visible stretch on the support pole and all the strain on windscreen, and the cover got stretched out a bit and does not fit the same. I had a canvas shop put in reinforcement straps but that did not work either. The amount of wind resistance on my oem mooring cover was tremendous so now I just make sure before I leave on a long trip to have a good coat of wax on the boat and wash it when I get there. In fact on my last long trip I took off the removable windshield too. If I’m staying overnight on the road then I’ll throw it on at the hotel then take it off in the morning.

Having a good coat of wax on the boat is pretty important to make clean up easier.

I know a lot of people tow with the oem mooring cover on, but I would not do that.

On, no problem. I also get a little rubbing on the rear seat backs as the cover blows around. Sometimes I put PFDs over the seatback to stop it. But I usually just accept that using a boat is the point and if it looks used that is part of the deal. I have lost my cooler lid and boards out of the boat when towing without a cover.

Agree cover on and load it with gear if needed

The FSH series is questionable to use the cover but all others cover on while towing poles down

The boat will stay cleaner and no issues of items blowing out

I have a similar setup, I use an extra large exercise ball I bought for just this purpose, as I do not always have an inflatable. It spreads out the weight and pressure across the entire bow. Also use 2 hang tites for the back. Towing this way for about 5 years on this boat.
