Waiting on Irma....

Just curious. Why do i see so little masonry down there? I know some of the schools and hospitals i am working on are earthquake rated to a certain extent. I don't understand why in a hurricane area there wouldn't be more block structures vs stick built.

Depends when the structure was built verse when the building codes were changed. A lot of the property is/was grandfathered in.

Went out Saturday to Bellair and found that half of the floating docks where destroyed. It is a big and popular place to launch... can't imagine the sh*t show it will be now with only half open.

My cover didnt make it thru Irma..

All of the newer construction (200? & up) in my county is concrete and built to withstand 135mph or more. The Lame-Stream media wouldn't have many viewers if they broadcasted video of my neighborhood.

yep, after hurricane Andrew in 1992 they change building codes
I think it took effect 2003 or 2004
Most of the buildings in Key west lower keys are over 40 years old
You wouldn't believe how many trailers and trail parks are down there
