What are your thoughts on the Sea-Doo Switch Pontoon Jet Boat?

Not a boat I would buy for myself but I showed my wife the first video and she was immediately intrigued and going over numbers with me. If my wife expresses interest in a specific boat I’d bet a lot of other wives / women feel the same way. Those boats are going to sell well. I don’t know if any competitors exist which offer comparable features/ configurability / flexibility for the price.

I just saw those videos on YouTube last night. Didn’t really know what to think.

At first I was thinking kinda cool. Then they lost me at the jetski controls. Needs a wheel.

Someone on YouTube commented their dealership sells Seadoo and they just sold their full allotment for the year in 1 day. Wow These things may pull 10k over MSRP covid style pricing for a while depending on if they get backed up quick on production which it sounds like they might.

who wants to buy one and take it to Bimini?
Let’s do it!!!

Well maybe not the buy part. They need to let us Demo them… In a “stress test”. Tell them we’ll video and post a Bimini Crossing Review on YT. ?

I bet. Thing is going to be in high demand. Then it will evolve.

I just don't see how they are going do well in swells or a decent chop. Looks like they will sub big time. I dunno.

I bet these things will fly off the shelves...It's kind of like an SUV of pontoons...what to do something different, linq to it.

Personally, I think it's kind of ugly, but then beauty is a personal definition.

I give props to whoever green lighted this at BRP....at least they are going to push the boundaries in a stale market.

Of course, I'll +1 whoever buys one and gives us all a nice personal tour, and of course, they'll be welcome around these parts for any jet boat related questions they may have.

It'll be fun trying!!! LOL

Take one to Haulover Inlet.

I actually preordered a 21 ft one yesterday, my wife has been on my ass about getting boat with more room. I wanted a 2nd jet ski so we compromised on this and a super jet, got a 2019 AR190 for sell, decked out.

Did you pre-order one of the bundles? If so, which one?

One of the things I couldn't understand from Sea-doo 's website was if all the deck furniture shown in the bundle comes with the boat, or it is separate?

I just watched the live Q&A. They said they tested it in huge freight ship swell and out in the Gulf off the coast of FL- which is where I live so perfect for me.

Can you imagine . . . custom Pontoons with the Yamaha twin engines....My wife actually wants a pontoon boat . . . more room, etc. I like the idea...not the handlebar controls though. I bet we will see some other manufacturers follow. Or at least we should suggest our board will product test it....
Although I did see a tritoon in Grand Haven with quad 300's on it....that's always option #2...he he.

Was there video? Would really want to see that.

Also, just need to cipher out the trolling motor mount and it would GG!

I didn’t see this mentioned, but SeaDoo has tried the PWC inside a boat angle before, it was called the Explorer. I only saw a handful in the wild but always thought it seemed like a neat idea. Just like others have said, the Switch is a really neat idea. Not for me but it definitely has its place I’m sure. With the amount of pontoons around these days, it’ll probably sell decently.

My plan is to buy the 21 cruise with the double Bimini and camper, then see if I need anymore chairs or seats after we use it. Me purchasing this is contentment on a test drive and it does what they say it does . My dealer told me they are getting to drive them in a couple weeks.

I'll wait few yrs... they look like the same material as the spark's hull which has been known to crack and it is unrepairable...

Has anyone heard any info on speed/range of these things?

They're in the price range of a decent 22-24ft Tri-toon with a 150 on it. Those will run around 30-35mph depending on setup, and have 30-40gal tanks on relatively efficient outboards. Neighbor got his 24ft Berkshire with a 150 for ~$40k in '18. A Switch is similar size/shape/price.

I would think the Switches need to have similar performance at the minimum. Would like to see somewhere in the 40's with the 230HP on the 21ft.

What does an AR210 run? @HangOutdoors has one. That is similar HP and length to a switch, although obviously hull shape is quite different. Looks like an SX210 runs around 44mph according to boattest.com.

Glad to see an early adopter on this from this board. I'm super intrigued by them, and am trying hard to reserve judgement until we get some real world reviews and feedback. Really hoping the local dealership has some in stock for the boat show this year.
