Hmmm your scaring me I just bought a 195 G 2018 and I’m hoping that I have a smooth summer with itCompared to a prop drive the jet drive boat will take getting used to. Neutral does not mean the impeller is not rotating as with the prop drive. There is a fine line keeping the boat still in "neutral". The boat heading in reverse is opposite. Instead of turning the steering to kick in the rear when coming up dockside you leave the steering left to kick in the rear in reverse. That along with keeping the boat straight in a no wake zone were my biggest challenges when converting from prop drive to jet drive. I enjoy my Scarab but it was not without issues. Electrical, gel cracks and trailer issues had to be resolved.
I had to laugh at myself. You would think it would take a short time but after 50 years of navigating prop drives I still fumble when I go into reverse trying to kick over the stern when pulling onto the trailer. I still turned the wheel the wrong way and get totally sideways. Embarrassing. It's nothing you won't get used to in a short period of time.
Sorry I was not trying to cause any doubts or fears but pointing out the adjustments you will have to make going from a prop drive to a jet drive. You will love the tucked in jet pumps in shallow water and safety if you have anyone in the water around the stern. Fast plane and good fuel efficiency.
I experienced some issues that had to be addressed in the beginning. All good now.
Hopefully you will not have any issues, but you will find in the forum others have experienced problems no matter the boat brand. Members are willing to help and share their experiences.
Hello Dean. I live in East Orlando - Winter Park area. I plan on riding up and down Matanzas though as one of the places I like to play around in. Just got the boat - drove all the way to New Orleans to get it and back. Had a S/C hose pop off after engines were broken in.. Boat is getting warranty repair done now to go over ALL clamps etc .Twin 3s? Awesome!! Do you live nearby?
I had a heat exchanger 4-1/2" hose pop and split on me. Scared the heck out of me and had to rely on the other motor to get back. Good luck with it!Hello Dean. After your break-in period could you confirm your top speed. Dying to know!
I love it. That feeling of power is incredible. I do that when doing 30 and gun it up to 40, then gun it to 50. You can do all that till 60!!! As ELO sang "Hold on tight" (to your dreams)!I gunned it at about 45 mph and the person that was on the boat with me was sitting backwards on the passenger side and she flew/slid back to the back seat..
Did 63 mph against the wind in St Marks River south of tally - had about half a tank in it, myself and another person - all the gear that the boat comes with, extra cushions, wakeboard racks, tables, etc. I was able to go full 8000 rpms at about 2.7 hrs. This was first time on the boat though - the boat was sold to me new but had about 1.3 hrs on it due to customer demo rides at a Boat show I think in Lafayette. The boat get's on plane no shit in about 1.5 seconds and it's gone. I gunned it at about 45 mph and the person that was on the boat with me was sitting backwards on the passenger side and she flew/slid back to the back seat..
I'll post a first impression post here soon.
Thanks

I don't have them on my Chap; had them on my Yamaha (single engine). Twins are more controllable at lower speeds. I think it was @swatski or @Julian mentioned having control coming off plane. Two places by me, where a no wake zone begins, are on a turn and bothers me every time. It's probably just a matter of time and $$.When I picked up the boat I noticed it had a slit that looked like a thin slice but wasn't deep. When it popped off (a couple months later and I was WOT) the split was much more noticeable. Honestly, maybe it was a little bit of both?? I did like you; made sure everything was tight.
