What's your favorite Bourbon?

Best I have ever tasted was Pappy 12 year. Best bottle I have had is Blantons love it just hard to find
Also like Basil Hayden, TX, and anything that is on the rocks.

On this topic, there is a documentary on Prime Video called "Straight Up". Pretty interesting to hear the history/details around bourbon, check it out... I finished watching it last night with some Border Bourbon, went well together. ;)

Angels Envy, Pappy Van Winkle.

So my wife says I have a problem, I call it a hobby.

  • Favorite bourbon at a decent price- McKenna Bottled-in Bond
  • Favorite low cost - Old Granddad 114
  • Favorite mid priced - Four Roses Single Barrel, barrel strength
  • Current favorite high end - Remus Repeal Reserve
  • Favorite Rye - Angels Envy Rye (not a huge fan though of regular Angels Envy)

You Sir... WIN!

Forgot I snapped these pictures for you guys. Neighbor has quite the collection going, said it was OK to share.

I think you can click to make bigger.....if not let me know and I'll redo the images fullsize.

I performed a Caronavirus test the other day and determined Basil Haydens makes a much better and smoother Old Fashioned than Woodford Reserve. I intend to release this study to the CDC to help my fellow humans out there....

Just had caribou crossing the other night it was a really good taste a lot like Blantons

I've been using a Sous Vide lately to pre-make old fashions. Very happy with the results. I found the recipe on Reddit and I skip the cherries. Load up a quart mason jar with the ingredients, sous vide at 130F for 3 hours, strain it back into a bottle. When ready to drink, pour yourself a drink, shake bitters and add ice. Warning, the number of old fashions you consume will greatly increase.

Old Fashioned (serve over ice with a dash of bitters)
  • One bottle of bourbon
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1/3 cup pure cane sugar
  • Half a dozen maraschino cherries

I've got a bit of a collection myself. Blanton's is my go to (as evidenced by the 5 bottles stashed). Itching to open the Stagg Jr, just haven't yet. One of my favorites was Orphan Barrel's Forged Oak. If I could get my hands on anything from them again, I would.

Favorite? Pappy. What I can afford? Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich has a Bourbon? I though they only made Scotch (though they do have a Bourbon barrel variety, I know...)?

They don’t, but it’s my go to for brown liquor served neat.

Phew. Thought I was missing something... :)

Favorite is probably Basil Hayden. It’s easy to find, easy to drink, and won’t completely break the bank. Blantons, Jefferson Ocean, and some occasional stuff form the local distillery, Mystic are ones I also enjoy. Bullet Rye for an Old Fashioned.
