For the Minnesota members,

Amazing day. We started out at Two Inlets at -19, and this photo was shot right about the donut. We may have seen 4 above for a high. But that’s the price to pay for bluebird skies and the best January conditions we have seen.

Forest Riders and Nevis Trailblazers are killing it up here! They have all the trails in great condition for the races next week. We probably put down the fastest rips over to Stompin Grounds for lunch. Then back to Spikes for the end of the Bison game. Then off to Clancy’s at Vacationaire for the start of the Vikings game.

Keywords for you: Scout Trail and Steamboat!! WOW!!!

Get up here kids!!

Aloha Gang, in Hawaii we’re starting off 2020 with the UGLIEST weather?. It’s been consistently raining and super windy. I hope @Scuba_ref is ok Big Island of Hawaii catching cracks right now flashflood warning??. That being said the Yammies haven’t been out, they’re high and dry. So what us Hawaiians do when the weather is junk.

Pa’ina??! Always Blessed to have great Ohana and friends. Captain Kawika a commercial fisherman and very good friend. Gave me a call and said he’s coming over. He stopped by the house and told me the day before he caught couple nice Ahi(Yellowfin Tuna) and gave me a slab. Theses guys r crazy going out in these conditions, but that’s there livelihood. So what do I do, buss out couple steaks and cut that fish up. Some Ahi Sashimi, Oyster Sauce Poke, Kimchi Style Poke, Ponzu Sesame Tofu, and Some perfectly grilled Steaks cut up Pupu style. Stay Blessed Gang. Cheeee!??

For anyone that cares to hear what a Yamaha R1 4-cylinder engine sounds like in a snowmobile, this will be ear candy!! As mentioned, for the engine lovers, this clip needs no soundtrack! This is a 0-115mph trail tank!

Be sure to bump it up to 720p/60!

Listened to it with my stereo headphones on. It was like I was on the sled with my helmet on. ??

It's still a bit nippy out and the lake is patchy with ice. Although it doesn't seem like it's going to completely ice over this year. Still a short 3 months before I stick my toes in.

Pretty obvious...boat is hybernating.

When that maple syrup freezes up and stops running you can drag that thing down the Florida, it will wake up.

I’ve been a bit quiet this past week, as I have taken the week off to move into our new lake home! Yes, the Lake Gypsy will have a new home down there on the bay. But as you can see, it’s a bit “hard” right now.

As we have another epic year for snow here in MN, quite a bit of that virgin powder may get ripped up this weekend after I unpack more boxes.

The lake is in the distance there somewhere.

Conditions were great for the Frigid 5K and polar plunge. I did. not. attend.

Props2you, we are headed that way Mid-February. This will be our first trip back bringing our two youngest riders in the group.

They have proven themselves over the past few years, that they will ride in whatever conditions we run into. That's important if we are going to trailer 6-8hrs, as you never know what you may end up with. Especially 100 miles into a 225 mile day da UP. But I am excited to take them to all the cool places we found over the years.

We may even need some tips on new places to visit. We primarily get one day in the Ironwood region/Lake of the clouds on day one, then setup shop in Houghton for a few days and ride out of there. We may need to venture further East for a change.

This is a good year again in MN, so you won't see as much traffic heading to da UP from this direction. But I bet riders are flooding in from the dry South still.

Good times!

PS: I did sneak away from my moving duties this past Saturday to squeeze in 160 miles with my buds. We had what we affectionately call Slot-Car Snow! You could hold a tight line at any speed, and the temps were in the mid 20's. Amazing day!

we had two Mississippi Headwaters virgins with us, so that had to happen! 80 miles before lunch and 160 for the day!

@biffdotorg That is AWESOME!!

For sure let me know if you want some planning help in the Western UP/ Keweenaw. We spend most of our winters da UP! Even if you want to venture East towards Munising and Grand Marais, we are VERY familiar with da Yoop!

Wife and I have done some pretty gnarly (probably psychotic) one-day round trip rides over the recent years; Ironwood to Copper Harbor in a day (425 miles) done this trip several times. Munising to Hoop & Holler on Lake Gogebic in Marenisco (425 miles), Copper Harbor to Lake Gogebic (300 miles). So it's funny to me when guys take 3 days to do what my wife and I do in a day... round trip! We do mostly backcountry/bush riding now where 50 miles a day is a TON!

With your new riders, understandably so, that's a lot of miles and fatigue is a factor for sure as the trails get pretty gnarly after 4pm.

Let me know if you need places to go see and do, would be happy to help with trail numbers and spots to hit!

Awesome. I was born and raised in the Keweenaw in the little town of Hubbell - just a few miles from Mt. Bohemia. (Hubbell's population in 2010 was 946 - my Mom among them.)

I grew up 4-wheeling on those trails all year-round. (Apologies to snowmobiles everywhere for my ruts - but Dad said we could have one or the other so I went with the 4-season option.)

Of course my riding was a bit more localized, but I was probably on those trails 5 days out of the week 52 weeks / year for nearly a decade. Man I miss it.

I used to know all the trails around Lake Linden, Hubbell, Calumet, and Laurium. I'd head toward Houghton/Hancock once in a while but only went south of the bridge occasionally. 4-wheelers are a lot slower than snowmobiles so I never made it much further north than Phoenix by trail - but I used to stop there for gas. Still have a lot of great riding memories.

Snowmobile Tourism is the life-blood of most of the small businesses up there so be generous if you can.

I'd suggest a place I know that makes the world's best Pasties, but Mom might not like a bunch of people knocking on her back door looking for hand-outs. :)
