Yamaha surf wake wedge reveal!!! Warning pic heavy

@jcyamaharider, @sx210owner,
Thanks so much for the specifics. I will install shut off valves for both sides. I have a 450 and a 250 sumo sac now, if I add another 450 I should be about there.

Also, you mentioned in another post that there was a little bit of interference between the Wake Wedge on the 212x and Thrust Vectors, which I do not have. If I were to get the Cobra Jet Venom Ultimate and set them not to retract all the way up while using the Wake Wedge, do you think that would prevent the interference?

Thanks,
Dave

I think it would but I cannot confirm. Maybe @Cobra Jet Steering LLC can comment on his fins on how far they come up. Not to familiar with them yet but I would love to know. I get this question daily.

set all the way down the ultimate fins extend 2 inches behind the nozzle opening and 5 inches below the bottom of the nozzle. Not sure if this is what you were asking.

@jcyamaharider, With that info from Cobra Jet we should be able to solve this. What is the minimum clearance requirement from the nozzle to the Wake Wedge when installed on a 2014 212x?

Not exactly, but that information is handy. If under way, say 10-12 mph, and the fins are set to stay down, do they actually stay all the way down or do they come up a bit?

Also keep in mind we are developing a bracket that will not let fins interfere with the wake wedge.

Ultimate fins rely on the thrust of the nozzle to either hold them down when the engines are running or rise up depending on how the multi purpose actuator is set.
I would think staying down for more response and control during the use of a wake wedge or other water sport activity would be the preferred way to steer the boat.

Yep exactly what is was thinking.

Warm weather on the horizon in Minnesota and the old 242LS is ready for some surfing. ;)

Come to MN and I could line up 3 hull styles (4 boats) to use in one shot. Believe it or not I can see them all from my house too! :p

We have all of these sitting around the neighborhood:
  • 2010 242LS
  • 2013 AR210
  • 2013 AR240
  • 2013 242LS

So do you have the design complete to be able to switch sides easier yet. I really want to improve my wake this year

Made a prototype and it will not work. The way the wedge hinges and Flippin the whole bracket over makes the ladder flap "kick out" so that is a no go.

I think I could deal with the ladder only working from one side. Could I just set it up for goofy then just make the regulars not use the ladder. We don't use the ladder much any way.

@jcyamaharider Does the wedge have a cruise feature, ie can you have it installed with normal boat operation? Or is it down to some extent if it is installed?

Thanks.

@jawsf16. Yes you can, all you have to do is turn the manual turn buckle so the wedge is flat with the swim platform and the jet thrust is normal.

Thanks for the verification. I was thinking you could do that but wasn't sure if it would go streamline.

Any updates? Now's the time to tell us right before the season starts so you can maximize your orders! I'm waiting on a (more simple) convertible model from regular to goofy to come out, and I'll pull the trigger!

Sorry for the long delay in response. I built a prototype to tried and make it swappable for everyone and it was a huge failure. When flipped over there was no support for the other side to not flap from the jet blast. We will still be working on it but I have been concentrating on getting my boat ready to hit the water and filling orders for the Wake Wedge.

Also we are working with @thcole on the 2005 wedge and I have a prototype to test on the 2015 240 series boats!!

I suppose I need to decide to shit or get off the pot on this. 1/3 of my riders are goofy, the others are regular but I know if I throw a beautiful wake for the reg's that the goofy's will revolt. Is there a combo wedge that does both? I've seen on your website that there are wedges that look to span both sides. If so, is there a discount for buying a combo set?

I gotta say... your product is very attractive. My wife, who doesn't give a shit about wake surfing saw the wave in your vids and was impressed.

I finally got the time to switch the new wedge to goofy and mount it! Can wait to try it!
