We stored the mooring cover in a plastic covered box outside for the summer - didn't need it because the boat was moored in the water all summer. Somehow it appears some kind of ant or other critter entered the box - and decide to munch on the cover - now it is covered with holes the size of cigarette burns (1/4 to 12 inch). HOW to fix the cover??? Any advice? Cover was brand new in 2017!

Ants like to nest in the cover I had the same issue the boat was shrink wrapped for the winter and I pulled the cover out of storage from an enclosed trailer opened it carpenter ants and their eggs were everywhere. This freaked me out then I noticed about a dozen holes 1/8" in diameter this was the grey cover I took the storage bag cut a bunch of circular patches and siliconed to both sides . The silicone held almost all of them for a full season .

Sounds like a moth, mebbe it was on the cover when you folded it up and put it away. It also sounds like it'd be a PITA to fix without it looking super ghetto.

Yes it will be a PIA - but I need something to cover the boat for now - will try the silicone method - OK if its a bit getto - boat going into storage soon, and we don't use the cover anymore in the summer. Thanks

Get some Sevin dust and sprinkle a perimeter around your trailer. I had ants once and my dad told me to try Sevin since they use it when camping and it has worked ever since.
