Also on my to do list for next year! The only thing left on my to do list this year is to use the hell out of my boat while the weather lasts!

If anyone whom has added these could please provide some feedback it would be appreciated! I'm considering these, but am curious what effect that have in our boats during high speed maneuvers (don't want to give up the fun)!

@paul075 and I have installed different designs of the Lectrotabs. @Glassman and @bucks448 have had a similar Bennett trim tabs on their boats for years. @dan144k has the Volvo Interceptors installed.

I do not believe that any of us have experienced any loss of high speed handling. My first outing with the tabs this year was a 24 mile round trip to dinner on smooth water. We ran long sections at 45 mph. The only difference I noticed was a feeling of straighter tracking.

You can see pictures of my installation and several others at Lectrotab Trim Tabs .

Would the kits fit the newer 240 hull?

I believe it will. I do not know anyone with a 240 to test on.

We need confirmation from @Lectrotab Trim Tabs but I believe that they would allow you to return the kit if it did not.

I made mockups of the tabs out of cardboard for test fitting before ordering the tabs. This is one example.

tabm0001.jpg

In the final version I used the standard actuator which is 11 9/16th when retracted, I moved the trim tab back 1 1/4 inch and folded the hinge underneath the trim tab.

This is the final version mounted.

@steined , the swim deck sits too low to mount the actuator to the vertical transom so we have to mount it to the bottom of the swim deck.

Not having the step will make the tab easier to fit. But we may want to switch the hinge to the other side.

So did I, which is why I would strongly consider the Lenco trim tabs. I just don't understand why they are mounted so differently. I'm going to have to do some measuring when I get home!! The ability to be on "plane" at a lower speed made for great cruising down the river!! 20-25MPH is too fast some times. Plowing at 9MPH is too slow! :p It also really reduced the "porposing" that the Stingray Z-Plane hull is guilty of in shorter lengths.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I could keep my Four Winns on plane at 12 mph with the trim all the way down! The hull on my 06 was actually pretty smooth for its size. It wasnt until I started weighing it down with 5 people did it start mis-behaving in chop. I dont have a ton of experience with this hull yet and people placement, but this hull definitely likes to porpoise with or without people on it. But another 600 dollar expense is going to have to wait until next year for sure!

The Lectrotabs that @paul075 installed are very similar to the Lenco limited space tabs.

These are picture of his install

I wanted a greater surface area on the tabs in hopes that it will help with wake surfing as well. Hopefully we will get to test that theory this weekend.

I do not have a position on whether Lenco or Lectro makes a better product. But I do know that @paul075 walked in and walked out with his tabs on the same day and mine were shipped the day I ordered them. Both of us ordered custom trim tabs for what we felt was a reasonable price.

I didn't realize the 2014 model removed the step in the hull. I'm not sure what hydrodynamic impact is creates with having to use a shorter tab, but you probably would't notice without changing boats in the same day. It just creates the need for a custom kit.

It's actually the 24' boats that don't have that rear hull step, not 2014 boats. Just to clarify...

The Volvo trim tabs mount well on the 240 hulls. 12" bolt right on. 18" would need a custom shaved plate to make level mounting surface.

@Bruce, @paul075 the actuator screws that go into the underside of the swim platform. Are they backed up by marine plywood or is it just hollow fiberglass?

@Gym, This is a picture that I took inside the swim deck where the actuator is mounted. The black wire is the actuator wiring which comes in through the middle of the mount. The two bolts to the right are the trailer tie down. I used 1 1/4" screws. Two of them are coming through slightly. The third is not exposed. So this is a pretty thick part of the hull. If it had been thinner I probably would have epoxied some plywood in this area.

Thanks for the pic @Bruce. Do you think that area is all fiberglass or factory plywood reinforced? I guess it has to be pretty strong with the tie downs mounted there.
