Lectrotab Offering for Yamaha Boats

Has anyone tried one of these kits with the self leveling controller?

http://www.lectrotab.com/products/automatic-level-control.php

I have the Mente Marine Attitude Control System (ACS) which I believe to be the same product as the Lectrotab ALC.

It works great. I can level out the boat how I want it and save that attitude. When I start up again the controller will automatically correct the boat to that attitude and keep it there.

An Australian member on YJB had an earlier version of the Mente Marine ACS on his 240 and said she handled 3' seas well.

Yeah, those Volvo tabs look like they might be the better way to go if I want to be able to use the Wake Wedge too. It looks like the actuators would be in the way with the traditional system.

I had a set of Volvo Interceptors. My understanding was that the Interceptors were not compatible with the new Mente Marine ACS. So I decided to go with Lectrotab.

But you are correct that I do not see any way to install both the trim tabs and the Wake Wedge.

I talked to Lectrotab as I will be ordering in about a month and their prices for the second kit is still the same with the auto retract feature. They have all info still on file and will ship in 24hours of order. They were very friendly and easy to talk to.

Just wanted to share as the original post is 2 years old with prices.

Thanks, did you ask about the Manual Leveling LED Control?

If the price is reasonable it would be my choice.

No I think the oval unit it comes with is okay. It won't adjust both tabs with one button but does the auto retract at shut off and and LED indicate position. I think the one show also returns to last setting. I don't know the upgrade cost. Do you think there is a big benifit from the oval unit in the higher kit to the manual besides one button operation?

I think it is worth asking what the price difference is. If they are the same or similar I would prefer the newer control. I have not been able to find a price anywhere.

When I call to place order I will ask. I think the new style looks better also. If it it similar I would probably order just for the cosmetics alone. I'm debating to order a switch panel first though as I don't want to keep adding rockers and rewire with switch panel. I have one rocker behind helm for aft bilge I added. I may order a 6 switch panel as I will fill it up shortly.

I wanted a greater surface area on the tabs in hopes that it will help with wake surfing as well. Hopefully we will get to test that theory this weekend.

.

@Bruce what was your final verdict on this aspect of your tab install?

@Bruce what was your final verdict on this aspect of your tab install?

A friend who was surfing ropeless behind his SX230 added I believe 500 pounds of ballast to my boat and played with the tabs to see what they could do for the wake. He was not impressed so we decided they were not helpful.

If I wanted trim tabs for surfing I think I would ask Lectrotab to build a pair that was long and thin and were hinged at a 45 degree angle to mount at the outside edges of the boat. They would fold up under the swim deck when not in use and extend out and down similar to the suction cup devices and likely for a similar cost.

@Lectrotab Trim Tabs I am interested in installing a tab kit in a 2016 AR240 and have a couple of questions.

First, does your Jetboaters.net offer above still stand as indicated by another member here (@2nazt)?

Second, would it be possible to swap the actuator for the "short" model in the CXKASB12X12-9051 kit?

Third, would it be possible to move the blade attachment sites (holes/cutouts in the blades) backwards (towards the hinge/transom) by approx 1" to 1 1/2"?

As you know, @Bruce has enjoyed your your tabs for several seasons now, and we know that he drives his boat hard! I am convinced those are the best offerings on the market for our boats, especially if the above modifications could be accommodated. Yamaha jet boats present a particular challenge with their transom design. In the new hulls, such as the 2016 240, the installation would follow (in general) this example (by @paul075):

Thank you for any advice you can offer!

@swatski Have you heard anything back from @Lectrotab Trim Tabs yet? I have the same hull style and would need a similar solution. I will primarily be boating in the Gulf of Mexico and the trim tabs are a must.

Mine are DONE. Best mod ever, hands down. I use the tabs all the time, every time we go out.
My install is also compatible with wake surfing, which is tricky.
