@DavisAR195 Your question was totally fine, but there are many answers. I'm with you on that, ropeless to me is - pocket big enough to push an average dude riding an average board. Definitely doable behind a 195 but not trivial.

Just for some context, I'm on my second Yamaha JB and 5th year, I just went ropeless for the first time this week. Those things take time to finagle (with our boats).

@jcyamaharider is the nicest gentleman, but don't forget he's from a "Show me" state, lol.

Keep in mind I needed one more person to drive the boat as there was only 3 of us and one was my 7 year old son. I can tell you that if I would of had one more person you could go ropeless if you know what your doing.
SCP1, will you let us know if you get a chance to ride that wave?

Not to add fuel to the fire, but the point of the initial question about ropeless, I'm sure, was to find out if the wave was ridable. That is certainly my question. Regardless of skill, I have yet to see a video of an adult wakesurfing behind a 19 ft Yamaha, without the rope. That wave in SCP1's photo looks like it is plenty of pocket and also a smooth break. One thing I want to point out is that I'm quite confident a child can ride a much smaller wave as I have seen, so I'm not sure those whose kids have done it proves an adult can ride behind an AR19. Pics of an adult would be stellar! Also, board specs too if that plays a factor for anyone. I'm itching to surf behind this boat, so I'm following this thread closely!

This might have been covered, but where can I order the custom fatsac? I see one can order a custom bag from them, but it sounded like someone had already ordered it from another site, or had the specs to order it.

Lastly, anyone have a bag in the rear locker? I have the '18 AR195 and the locker is too small to fit a standard bag, with the battery, on my surf side. Still under warranty so I don't want to mod it yet. Any suggestions on a bag? It can't go on the seat as I often surf with a few people so I need the seats open.

I think a custom bag 30 x 15 x 14 is all I can get in there. That puts me around 225 lbs. Not sure if that will be enough.

You can get the custom swimdeck bags from @jcyamaharider. That's the bag you need to start with, for sure.

4806865F-7206-4156-9A4B-C4F0C96BC596.png @jcyamaharider has a site http://www.gantlinproducts.com/ custom bags, the only thing is I have not seen how much weight the bags add. I’m in the boat @CBallr regard the rear space and have added a couple hundred pounds to each side using the 50 lbs lead bags.

All the specs for the custom 19' boat swim deck bag are in the original custom bag thread. I designed it based off the measurements from my boat and input from members here to taper the sides. It's right at 490 lbs.

@CBallr as mentioned you can get them from @jcyamaharider . Here's the thread 19ft Transom bag order

Lol, well I have had this bag for a year and this is my first time trying it. I would like to try it out again before Shelbyville but to be honest it may not happen until then.

I am confident a skilled adult can ride the wave (ropeless) based on the size and how clean the wake was. Now is the pocket going to compare to a dedicated surf boat no but the surf boats are still going to be scratching their heads when the see us going ropeless. :winkingthumbsup"

Keep in mind I was behind 007 Tige last year at Shelbyville and couldn't go ropeless and his wave was huge. I didn't have my board either so I was riding something way fancier than what I have. I have a CWB Ride Surfer another popular cheap one is the Hyperlite Landlock. Some one posted an adult riding behind a 190 with an Inland Curl shaper but the guy was pumping crazy and looked very skilled. I don't think they had ballast on the back platform. I don't think based on what I saw the wave was as tall as what I had, but keep in mind my pictures didn't do the wave justice either so it's hard to say.

JCYAMAHARIDER has the custom bag for the back and surely could make one for the rear compartment as well. Haknslash help design the bag as he has a 19' and is rockstar when it comes to measurements, videos, etc...

As far as the rear compartment I'm hoping to just put my 450 down there if need be and get what I can get in after I have the custom rear bag. JCYAMAHARIDER said he was bringing a custom rear bag to Shelbyville so hopefully we could try this out and report back with winning results. I would love to have someone else that has the surfing figured out surf behind this so we can prove this. Just in case I don't have my ropeless surf on.

I could ride that wave for days. You have nothing to worry about. With just a single 750 bag on the port side cabin seat, 1 driver, and 2 people on the port side I went ropeless behind jaybro72 sx190.

We have learned that the rear transom bag puts weight exactly where it needs to be so with the help of my 190 series brothers, we will prove it again.

I’ve got a 2012 212x and I’ve tried just about everything for surfing. For me (225 lbs) to go ropeless the formula is simple: factory ballast + 150 steel shot bags + 800 lbs on the swim deck and/or back seat, wake wedge to clean up the wake, good surf skills (can you pump the board?)

I’ve tried almost everything else. That formula does the trick.

I just ordered the custom transom bag from Gantlin since I’ve found that weight on the swim deck is a must and their bag will clean up my install.

Our boats are not reinforced enough for a switchblade or Malibu/Axis style wake wedge IMO. Tons of force from those things. The Centurion hulls the switchblade is bolted to were much thicker and stronger that our hulls or swim platform.

I have my first round being delivered tomorrow but all of those are spoken for. I guess I will have to make another order which takes a couple of weeks. I would keep more of an inventory but we are moving right now so I don't have a lot of room to store inventory.

Look at my post from today July 29th.

I don’t think you are going to want another bag in the boat at least not in the back compartments.

Great conversation and love to see the surfing posts, just one completely semi-related PSA --> the wakeballast bags are very high quality, but be aware they use steel shavings and not lead (clearly stated on their website), so if you have them in a dry area then they are good-to-go, but if you place them in a wet area (like tethered to the swim platform) then they will eventually become a rusty mess. Net-net, keep them in a dry location !!!

I was finally able to try this out yesterday and it worked pretty good. I still need to get it dialed in on both sides though, and no, I don't have any pictures at the moment since I was driving. We have 2 standard and 2 goofy foot and I didn't want to keep switching the wake wedge back and forth, and we can still access the ladder.

I was curious what board everyone is using for wake surfing? The Liquid Force Happy Pill was recommended as a good fit for the 190's and curious if anyone has every tried that board?

I have a Liquid Force Fish 5'6" and a Hyperlite Broadcast. Of the two the Broadcast has more buoyancy and seemed better for my size. The Fish is easier to get up on and make smooth carves with but it is slower. The Fish also tends to dip the nose much easier than the Broadcast. I've also ridden the CWB Bentley and really liked that board. Never tried the Happy Pill.

I have a Liquid Force el Guapo which is very stable and easy to learn on. Let me know when you go out and you could try it. I also have a LF Pod and a Hyperlite Broadcast if you want to try different types

Thank you so much! We we’re planning on going out this weekend but it sounds the weather is not going to be that great. I will definitely reach out the next time we head out. I think my daughter age 4 would have a great time playing with yours.
