I find the carpet too hot

The wife and I both think the stock carpet is far too hot underfoot when the boat has been in the sun for half an hour or more.

Does anyone else here just go with a bare deck? Since we've pulled the carpet, we're contemplating leaving it this way, but I'm looking to add a few pieces of Seadeck in Aqua Camo to test out for possible full boat install.

somehow, somehow, it posted this before I was done. I was also going to add that the Seadeck on the back gets dirty way too quick. It's the light gray, which is why I'm looking at the camo pattern. The gray seems to find any dirt in a 3 mile radius and suck it in. I'm starting to hate the light color, but the carpet shows us that a dark color will be too hot (and doesn't really hide anything either).

The snaps and holes will be filled (gel coat) sometime soon, because it's either gonna be bare, or some form of Seadeck

Go seadek and never look back. I thought I lived carpet till I bought seadek. Best purchase I’ve made for my boat. Have will combine as many pieces as possible so it doesn’t look so chopped up and go for the thicker mat so it’s comphy on your feet. My 2 cents.

I have the teak look SeaDek in the swim platform and it hides dirt pretty well in my opinion.

I have removed hydroturf before and it is a royal pain in the ... to remove. I imagine SeaDek will be the same when it wears. Hopefully in 5 to 10 years. This is the main element holding me back from installing it. (Along with my boats configuration which needs several bolts exposed in the fuel tank access panel. But carpet gets wet often too. )

I think I'll be going with SeaDeck when the time comes. Carpet isn't too hot, I just hate having to take it out after it rains to dry it........Let me rephrase that, the carpet isn't too hot, but the clack snaps are somewhere near lava temperature.

I have carpet and have been on the boat without it and it is blistering! I would either have to use the carpet or have the SeaDeck or other material installed. No in-between.

Going bare is going to reflect a lot of sun right back at the occupants. I'd definitely put something down.

Im in full agreeance that the stock carpet is BS. Thanks again yamaha. It makes no sense to put that in a boat to burn peoples feet when sitting for more than 20mins. And you are right about the grey on the back. Dirt magnet. I keep a soft hand brush in the boat to wash it off before covering. I was wondering if something other than seadek would be better. like maybe GatorStep. Im not keen on changing the color to teak to hide dirt. It would offset the color combo(yes im weird that way) or camo. Still hoping something else would be better than seadek

We just recently installed the carpet that came with the boat for the first time a couple weekends ago. Been going bare floor and snaps the entire time we have had the boat. I think the carpet feels better under foot but once it got wet, it just stayed wet. Didnt take long for the "mildewy" aroma to kick up and I pulled the carpets right back out.

I don't mind the carpet. I haven't noticed it being too hot and I'm in the Texas sun. I have the bimini deployed the entire time though. I take it out after every outing to dry so it doesn't mildew. That is kind of a pain, and that would be the main reason I'd upgrade to something like seadek.

I have never had the carpet installed in my boat, and have never felt the bare deck has gotten too hot.

Do a couple of sub moves. It will cool and clean your carpets at the same time.

SeaDek solved all of our problems. We didn't like the bare fiberglass. It was uncomfortable on the feet and slippery when wet.

Thus far, it hasn't caused any more of a nuisance than the rest of the white interior, even after the 303 application

Go Seadek and buy when Jet Boat Pilot has a sale (usually in the fall). I had carpet in the 09 and after 1 season with the 17, I couldn't stand it any longer. I find that the Seadek (I bought matching faux teak) throughout doesn't get too hot under feet and there's no more stepping on those EVIL snaps!

Go Seadek. Still can get a bit hot but not blistering like the black snap in that came with it. As an added bonus it won’t get gross and smelly. ? Only downside is the lighter colors can show dirt easily but they clean.

I go bare floor on my 2019 AR190. Takes no time to clean up dirt, just hose it down, snaps are installed pulled the carpet out as soon as I got home, the fooor has never been hot, can’t say the same for the seats after sitting in the sun on the trailer, but on the lake no issues. Boat has 125 hours on it. So it gets lots of use

Try socks. We wear the sport ankle length socks. I can't say our carpet has ever felt hot. And Seadeck is great but its very hard to remove.

Mine didn’t come with carpet. Never felt I needed anything on the floor. It’s non skid, doesn’t get too slick even in salt water. It’s never hot, even in 99 degree weather in Florida. If I get sand/dirt/spilled beer on the floor, I use the jet wash and wash it out the scupper. I generally start the day with a scrubbed clean floor, at the end of the day the Marine Mat helm pad is ALWAYS the dirtiest spot on the floor. If the fuel tank hatch wasn’t under there I’d probably remove that one, instead I’m thinking of buying the extra thick Seadek one just to see if it helps the noise.
