Well... I found a Nautique G21 near me that I'm going to go look at on Saturday. Not saying I'm ditching the Yamaha, but curious what you everyone thinks would be a good trade-in or private party value?

Boat specs:
2020 212S w/ ~ 100 hours
- LED trailer lights & Ve-ve trailer guides. Guides were painted to match the factory matt-black trailer (not some half-ass redneck install) w/ Hyperlite covers.
- $10k pro-installed JL audio system. 8x M6 speakers in the tub (2x more than stock config), 1x 10" in a ported box behind the helm, 2x 8.8 towers. All LED w/ controller. 1500w of power. Installed to work with the factory Fusion/Connext system. (btw I know I'm not getting all my money out of this, but still, it adds value.)
- 2k lbs of Wakemaker bags, 2x pumps
- Yamaha Wakebooster
- Ride Steady GPS speed control
- Cobra fins/fangs

^^To get any of your money back on the mods you’d probably have to ask more than a new one - which no one will pay on a boat with 100 hours. Of which some of that was dragging around 2000lbs of ballast. The list of mods is A deterrent to buying IMO.

Me personally (don’t take offense please) I‘d steer clear of boats with huge stereo mods as I think the owner is all about attention and is likely a dumbazz (again not saying that is you). They probably show off when driving which leads to mistakes/hidden damage.

I think putting the boat back to stock will get you the best price - private or trade in. Make it a perfect stock Sunday driver.

Selling off all the add-on is the only way to recoup what you paid. I bet you could get a lot back. Heck I sold my wakebooster to $500 cash..

Note- At least it doesn’t have a stripper pole mount...

If it's anything like the jeep market no one wants a bunch of mods for exactly like you said. Just meant it was probably ridden hard, or at a minimum has had a lot of hands on it. Best bet would be to pull off the mods and sell them separately. Stock and unmolested will generally be an easier sell. Unless you happen to find someone looking for your exact mods. It's definitely doable, but doubt you'll get more than msrp for your boat even with all the mods.

I guess I didn't think my mods were "is all about attention and is likely a dumbazz - they're basically the same mods everyone on this board does. Better stereo, better steering, speed control, etc. @Sotally Tober , you're f'd if you ever sell your boat, you've "modded yourself out of an asking price." I would plan on just giving your boat away in a couple years, won't be worth a dime. :D :D

Curious, on your Moomba, did you mod it at all or sticking with not looking like a dumbazz? Stock stereo counts for a dumbazzness or not?

Sorry too honest sometimes..I said not to get offended because it was a generalized comment...Again please don’t take offense-I was just commenting on my opinion when I see a boat/car/truck/whatever all modded out. It’s my impression, not a reflection of you.

We did not upgrade the stereo in our new Moomba as I prefer to be more low-key from a noise standpoint...

Yeah, eyes wide open here. I'm under no impression that I will get anything above the price of a stock boat when I do finally sell (NOT FOR A LONG TIME). As was previously stated, parting out is the best way to recoup the cost of mods.

Well F it anyway... I've heard from more dealers today that "can't sell me a boat because you're too far away..." The only dealerships close to me have zero or sh*t inventory, crap boats nobody wants, and the ones further away can't even quote me a price. These manufactures can kiss my *** - wow, I thought Yamaha was a bag of d*cks when it came to shopping price, hell at least they'll let you shop within your state!

"I said not to get offended because it was a generalized comment" Was it?

Last I checked I'm the only one (active member) with a "Note- At least it doesn’t have a stripper pole mount..."

"I‘d steer clear of boats with huge stereo mods as I think the owner is all about attention and is likely a dumbazz"
I'm not going to rattle off my resume as a professional Sailor/Mariner but your assumption couldn't be any farther from the truth.

I‘m not sure how other manufacturer‘s are but some of them have strange regional areas where they can and can’t sell if there is another dealer within a certain range. Skiers Choice is that way I believe. Dealers can sell boats to other dealers but I think point of sale on new boats can be region locked sometimes.

Multiple Yamaha dealers in NW refused to sell to me. Said I need to deal with my local dealer. I actually had a dealer cancel my order when they found out I lived couple hours away (even when I told the rep multiple times where I was located beforehand).

I would work with one of the dealers again in future (was nice about it), I would never work with another regardless.

Dealers better be counting their lucky stars boats are hot now...

That's nuts! I did an online information request for every dealer within 200 miles. I had some even in neighboring states reach out to me to sell me a boat(last year RIIIIIIGHT before covid went full on nutso). However, I have heard of exactly what you're talking about.

Well, I take back my rant (slightly) about brands. Seems that if you look at the right brand, you can buy them. Currently found that the 2021 Tige 23ZX checks nearly all the boxes for us:

1) 16 person cap
2) ~4k ballast
3) Dumbazz stereo system (6x rev8 in the boat, 4x rev 10s on the tower)
4) Closed cooling 400hpm Indmar
5) walkthrough on bow with seating, walkthrough into stern
6) power tower
7) full LED lighting system
8) stern thruster

It's a little light on storage under the rear seats due to the ballast tanks (if you don't count the PnP bags in the stern) but we're not overnighting on the boat, and still has more than the Yamaha.

Tige's are GREAT boats. We lack dealers out here near me. Closest one is a few hours away. I've looked at them heavily should I be able to upgrade as a great option. Supreme has popped up a lot too. I really like the tech on Tige boats.

The seem like they throw a good wave. My new rant for the day is... doesn't anyone do actual, real-world test of these boats? Or do the manufacturers just find a way to pile all their videos into the first 5 pages of YouTube?

Surf wave looks legit, probably better with some lead ballast. But hell if I can find a video of the actual wakeboard wave.

Tige’s are nice boats. We don’t have many of them around here but the few I’ve seen are nice and have cool lines.

The engines are closed cooled but not entirely. The number with the Raptor motors is the torque rather than horsepower, which is what matters most for these kinds of boats. I’m not too familiar with that exact boat but we have the 400 engine and it’s a great engine. Tons of power and torque!!

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts if you do a water test. Have fun!
