Need some advice: just informed that my 210 FSH Sport is set for delivery soon but now I am hearing that trolling motors have the same COVID issues and stock is limited.

even if I do not get the trolling more installed on delivery, I want to get a battery charger that will accommodate my starter, house and trolling batteries once I get the trolling motor installed. Do I need three bank? Or a second charger dedicated to trolling batteries because the trolling batteries will be forward?

and should I go with NOCO or ProMariner ProSport?

thanks!

Depending on what trolling motor you go with (24v or 36v) you should always have separate batteries dedicated to your trolling motor separated from the house and starter batteries. You also will need either a 4 bank or 5 bank charger if you are to select one that will do all. I highly recommend LiFePo4 batteries for your trolling motor as they will hold a charge last 3 times longer. Mine have an 11 yr warranty and came with chargers. LiFePO4 are also about 60% lighter than SLA.

Thanks and agree! Problem is that I don’t know which trolling motor yet - gonna be 60”. And single charger can have wire run to charge 1 starter, 1 house and 2 trolling batteries up forward? That is probably my real question.

I went with the 112lb thrust, figured better more than less

I have a 2020 fsh 210 sport. I went with the 112 Minn Kota and a 4 bank charger. Better to have it and no need it than need it and not have it. I fish the intercostals here in northern FL and the current is pretty swift. Been several times the motor is running at a 7 or 8. Never maxed out. Don't believe the 80 lb thrust would've held.

Yeah, basically you want 1 charge bank per physical battery, they get charged individually despite how they may be wired otherwise. the 4 bank minnkota is what I have also for my house/starter and dual battery trolling motor setup, it works great. They make extensions to reach batteries that are in different areas. In my case my charger and trolling batteries are beneath the center console compartment, and I added extensions to reach back to the house and starter batteries.

I have two MinnKota PC chargers, a 330 three bank for the troller, and a 220 two bank for the house and start batteries.

I have a 4 bank MinnKota charger. I use a dedicated line for each trolling motor, and the 4th line for both house and starter batteries. When I turn those batteries off, I turn the parallel switch between those batteries on. Allowing both batteries to get charged. In order for it work properly, both batteries need to be the same type.

If you land your 4th charger lead on your start battery the DVSR will handle your paralleling for you automatically.

Crisis/problem fixed. Going with 2 min Kota chargers. 2 bank for starter and house & 3 bank for trolling motor. Did not want to do it that way but since my boat will spend some time stored on the trailer, I thought this was best.

Did any of you used the factory trolling motor mount for FSH (I have the aluminum one)? Asking cause it look like only 3 holes lined up that I can use to secure it. Did you add additional holes to make it more secure, if not how is it holding for you? Thanks!

The dealer used it when they installed mine. They added a couple other holes through the trolling motor quick connect mount, totaling 5 screws through the mounting area, into the boat.

I ended up scrapping that original mount though and opting for a much thicker, stiffer piece of stainless, without the bent angle that dug into and chipped my gelcoat.

Thank you , the design doesnt sit well with me also there is not enough piece sitting on the flat surface of the gunnel. I may buy aluminum and make my own mount.

I ended up getting it from a metals dealer. Core Mark Metals was the one near me. They cut the length I needed off a 12 foot section.

Those places would also have aluminum. I was just unlucky and they didn't have anything the width/thickness I wanted the day I was there in aluminum, so ended up with the stainless. 1/2" stainless is obscene overkill I will say. If this plate isn't the strongest single component of my boat, trailer and truck, I'll eat my hat. LOL

Ok stupid a question: I’m looking at the the NOCO chargers. Hopefully I’ll be getting my 210FSH sport in the next few months. I added the MinnKota 36V 112lb 60”. What made you decide to get the 4 bank charger? By definition, I should get a 5 bank charger. Is it better to get a 4 bank charger or 2 bank and 3 bank charger? TIA

I don't think anyone sells a 5 bank currently, but yes ideally you would get a 5 bank charger. Minnkota is releasing one this fall FYI - and it'll also support charging the LiFePo4 batteries, so it's going to be an ultimate solution imo. I'll be upgrading from my 4 bank to a 5 bank then! Luckily my trolling motor will run at either 24 or 36v so i'll only need to add a battery then!

I guess I don't understand on why would need to charge the starter battery. I have 4 batteries in my boat. Starter, House (AGM TPPL), and two Trolling Motor Batteries (LiFePo4). I have a NOCO on board 4 bank 40 amp charger. I have each bank connected to a battery. I watch when I turn on the charger and the starter battery is basically topped up and goes into maintenance mode with a minute or so. Not sure I even need a bank on it.

Perhaps if I was wired differently it could make sense, but everything in my boat runs off the house, except for the trolling motors of course. The only thing hooked to my starter battery is the engines. Thoughts?

Actually Minn-Kota just announced soon to release a 5-bank capable of LiFePO4 (I wish they would have last year)
