What I like
1) more storage
2) add'l storage behind transom seat backs
3) Those tiny little tower speakers.
4) Front hinged seat bottoms
5) Quieter ride (if it really does end up being quieter).

What I don't like
1) That touchscreen. No way, no thanks.
2) That rudder, oh, sorry, "articulating keel", lol. Is it just me or does it look cheesy and like a hack add on that doesn't belong? Let's see how long before somebody breaks one at a beach.
3) Still the same 1.8 engines with no-wake mode band aid feature for hard to control engines at low rpms.
4) That beverage station. Does one put ice in there? Does it pop out for easy cleaning?
5) Does the driver get a cupholder?
6) Where could one even mount a gps/chartplotter now on a 240?

Things we don't know about yet.

1) Still the same cleanout plug design?
2) Will I finally be able to actually get my body through the drivers helm door for when I'm working in there?

Things I've always been hoping to see, but don't see yet.

1) Engines that don't need no-wake mode or cruise control feature. Give me a throttle lever that I can move easily and I can put my engines at whatever rpm I want and I can let go, and the throttle levers stay there. Figure out how to solve why they want to jump so much in rpms and tame that.

2) A portable cooler station. I hate lifting seats to get to a cooler to then lift that cooler lid. I'd like a drawer or someplace that slides out where I can place the portable cooler, and I can get to without having to ask somebody to get up.

Damnit!! I'm loving the 2015 242LS in gray. I just wish they continued the seadek throughout the interior.

I'll be at the boat show this year seeing what I can work out deal wise. If they offer the 2.9 financing I'll most likely be trading in the 2012 with all my hard work with the LEDs, transom light, switch panel, and hydro turf. Thankfully I'm getting a large pay raise this winter.

Damn you Yamaha!!!! (Great job)

P.S. I'm wondering of that rudder can be taken off. I love how mine handles.

Wow
I do believe yamaha listened, modified, and solved almost every main complaint out there!
No more tvxl or cobras
Hinges storage!!!!!! This one is huge for me!
More storage out back is awesome!
My wife says lets go see the dealer!
And whats this? Sound deadoner?
Holy cow yamaha good job!

I like the new swim deck storage as well but don't think they would carry a lot of anything and don't look large enough to carry a three or four person tube like a sports stuff big Mabel or ho atomic 4. I store all of my tubes in the floor locker since it is large and has a drain. Also because it can easily be made it lockable with an aftermarket latch for $30 to $50. The locking latch is more of a visual deterrent than a physical one but just about everything I put in that locker is valuable and easily stolen, so the lock helps prevent crimes/thefts of opportunity. As I think about it a little more it would be easier to take / steal things out of out of the new swim deck compartments than it would be any of the boats other compartments because the perp doesn't have to get in the boat to access the swim deck compartments.

Food for thought, Tubes cost $100+, some are in the $400 range, the same is true of wakeboards, box anchors, shore spikes, fenders and such. To this date after 25+ years of being on the water the cheapest thing on my boat is still my labor.

I found it easy to add another 12v port to the rear of the boat. My 242 had a (useless IMHO) vent over the original battery location that an aftermarket 12v port fit perfectly in so no drilling was required and the wiring to the battery or switch was short and easy to install.

How many tubes do you have? I find that one is sufficient. Also, the big mabel would fit back there too.

That swim deck storage is just plain AWESOME for fenders, lines, tube, 12v pump.

How about ballast compartment?
Lol you know it'll get filled!

Right there with you. Ready to buy today but not without the financing incentive. Yamaha was slow to update their site but the 2.9% offer now says 2014 and prior only. Since it was technically advertised before, I wonder if anyone has any luck this month with getting on the 2015s? If not, when are we likely to see it? Heading into the winter, I can wait for it to reappear...

Looking forward to some feedback from test drives from forum members that provide opinions on how quiet the boat actually is and how well it handles compared to the previous generation. Also curious to see how well they pulled off the touchscreen.

2015 242 LS
They addressed almost ALL of the Concerns we had with our 242 LS before selling it.

LOUD A$$ boat
No Hinged Seats
Hard to Steer for guest drivers (wife and friends)
Better Tower, and Real speaker options
Better and More storage

Not sure if we would have sold it had this been in place

Good for Yamaha ...looking forward to more reviews

three down from four. I don't have a big Mabel but the atomic 4 is just as big if not bigger and i can tell it won't fit in the rear compartments in the 2015 240s, maybe when it is new in package but not after it's been blown up and gotten wet. The engine hatch doesn't look much bigger than it is now and the rear compartments only take up the back half of the void that used to be over the engines.

It is a collapsible tower as well. Not sure if someone said that.

HOLY F### I HATE TUBES>>> LOL I have one, that's enough for me. All my guests like riding the wakeboard or wakesurfing.

Can anyone else notice something missing?

not sure if everyone noticed, but boating magazing just posted this to youtube:

And then... yamahausa's youtube channel just released a bunch of video to their channel that wasn't on the website.

Looks like they also moved the cut-off switches in the cleanout port section to a higher location which makes a lot of sense!

I think time will tell if the Thrust Vector XL is rendered completely useless. Remember, Yamaha has attempted to solve slow speed steering twice before and each time the customer demanded more.

We launched the original Thrust Vector with short fins and were told repeatedly that they helped some but were not the complete fix. Our original system had four fins in the water, most of which was above the hull in cavitated water like Yamaha's new single rudder.

We will be shooting a video in a few weeks that shows the difference between the 240 equipped with the Thrust Vector XL's vs. the new Articulating Keel. We will post the results as soon as possible.

Well ............ All of this just COST me $25-30K ............... LOL !

Too many goodies to pass up.Even Miss Barbie has a tough time disagreeing.

Passengers can now "converse" ??????????? WOW - THAT did it.

Best Wishes, Mikey Lulejian - Out in the backyard digging up more tin cans of cash to go purchase a 2015 ____________ @ Wedowee Marine.

I would absolutely love more information around what quiet cruise really is and if it's just sound dampening, ECM modifications or a combination of both. Quiet Cruise seems like it would be something that could be turned into an aftermarket item for @JetBoatPilot to make some money off selling :-).

I can easily add a 12V on the swim platform at any time, which I will probably do this winter!

I got a great deal on it, pick her up this Saturday....its been a LONG week let me tell ya!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I wrote the check on 1/5/14 and didn't pick it up until 5/1/14 LONGEST. WINTER. EVER.
