So you have the 4x2 with 3.15 or 3.31 gears? Does your Expedition have the heavy duty tow package or not? If so then you would be at 9200 Lb's.

I think so, if you look to the left on the chart it shows (2) Requires optional Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package in the column where it shows 9100 Lb's for your EL 4x4 with 3.73 gears. So I believe you are rated to tow that looking at the chart.

Oh new motors I would wait to jump on board. It's always a risky move especially now a days how fast they roll out new stuff. But the 10 speed is cool for towing. The Fast Lane truck did an episode on YouTube on the truck one comparing to the previous year and a new everything you want to know, but have yet to watch it though. Just need to take it with a grain of salt as it at Fords site and all.

I get what you are saying about new stuff. Typically bigger turbos means more fuel.

I'm considering going from an F150 to an Expedition, what was your tow vehicle before? I looked at the Explorer however I am concerned about the 5,000 lb max tow limit as we will be upgrading to a AR210. Has anyone pulled a 21 with a newer explorer with the standard V6?

I had an 05' Expedition w/5.4 Triton V8 prior. I looked at the Explorer when shopping around for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. But tow capacity was a deal breaker. At the time (14') they could only be had from the factory with a 1.5" receiver hitch. Needed to go aftermarket for a 2" reciever which I didn't like. Plus 5k capacity is pushing the limits of towing for our boats fully loaded with gear, food, fuel, passengers, etc. Trust me, your transmission will thank you for it.

Saw an article on the prtotype hellcat hemi ram unveiled in Texas last week. Heres hoping they bring the hellcat treatment to the street queen sport and high end trims. I will be a man easily parted with his money and tire rubber if that happens.

Did you get the auto leveling option on your Expedition? Is it needed, how well does it work, what actually is included in this option (is it similar to air bags you can buy aftermarket), ect... Thanks.

15/18 combined 16 on Raptor Motor 23% increase.

I saw 2 more mpg's (city & highway) on the standard 3.5 ECOBOOST motor for 17. TFL truck.

Is that mileage hand calculated or are you reading the gauges? I thought the 11-12 sounded right, but I've rarely met anyone that got 20-21 out of the 3.5. I have a 2015 2.7 2x4 with 3.31 rearend and I'm between 18.5 and 19.5 after every fill up hand calculated. I not in sport mode or goosing it either.

Anyone with a 2015 or newer 5.0? I'm considering the 5.0 and was curious of what gas mileage to expect.

I have a 14 with the 5.0. However I have talked to people with the 5.0 in a 15, as well as read reviews and it appears they are getting the same mpg as the 14's.

I had an '16 Explorer Platinum. The thing you need to understand with these is the 3.5 Ecoboost and 5K weight limit only comes in the Sport and Platinum. Not sure about the Lariat but don't believe so as the it follows the Ecoboost motor.

Towing with the Explorer with the Ecoboost is not bad. lots of power, good braking. Overall good vehicle. With a 21' boat you need to do the math. GVWR, etc. Then you need to know how safe you actually feel. You will know its there.

I did the math, found I was just at the max, but I was not going to run there even when I tow 2 times a year. Others have posted to make sure you have about a 15-20% margin. I learned the hard way and spent some money this year so I didn't worry.
