2018 Bimini June trip (June 24th - June 30th)

TH
You need to check your reservation @JROD I believe all of building 14 is down due to ac issues
The people who were originally booked in that building for this trip were moved to other buildings
Thank U Val! We always had some type of issues at BS so we rented a beach house close by.

I know I’m probably being a little extra about this but speaking with the guys at the fuel dock... they don’t know when they are getting fuel
At first it was said it was tomorrow or Friday then he drove back over and said they don’t actually know when.....

It is common for a fuel dock to be out of fuel. The tankers make rotations through the islands. When they arrive is dependent on water conditions and how long it takes to fuel each location.

In 2014, 2015 and 2017 I purchased fuel at Blue Water when Bimini Sands was out. I also have seen busy days at Bimini Sands when Blue Water was out.

Saying that, Bimini Sands Was well aware of your arrival and I had requested that 4000 gallons of fuel be available for your group. I am pushing everyone that I can for that fuel.

We are at Blue water now $5.31 a gallon the guys said they had about 12000 gallons here for us
I told the bug guys in their little boat that some of us were hungry and they said they would be by......

Blue Water has a nice indoor restaurant that you should try. I plan to this year.

We are considering purchasing a condo in Bimini and the Sands was my first option because of the Marina but from many comments, it seems like I should look elsewhere on the island. For anyone interested, www.cbbahamas.com have quite a few condos for sale on the island and the pricing at BS is at the lowest $150k for a 645sq ft 1 bed/1 bath and tops out at $245k for a 1,564sq ft 2 bed + loft/3 bath (Unit 7H if anyone is staying in that condo).

The realtor said buying a condo for $150k would be around $165k after closing costs, lawyers fees, etc.

I found a nice 2 bed & 2 bath condo for $150k at another property on the island - Bimini Bay. Does anyone have experience with Bimini Bay? Any thoughts on the experience, condition, location, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Bimini Bay is on property owned by a Gerado Capo. It has quite a storied past and is involved in plenty of trouble.

For example;

Until the Hilton opened there was a rental pool for the Bimini Bay condos. Jeff, Andy, Eric and I considered and negotiated with Bimini Bay to host our group there in 2015. We decided against it due to the long slow trip from the ocean to the marina and marina prices that were twice that of Bimini Sands.

As for Bimini Sands. It is currently in turmoil. It always is. That seems to be the Bahamian way. But if I was going to own property over there it would certainly be Bimini Sands over Bimini Bay but for me it would more likely be a wind powered she in one of the marinas.

As for the developers I would much rather be dealing with grocery magnet Rupert Roberts instead of rumored mafioso Gerado Capo.

Its the HOA fees that hurt. I heard they are $500 or $600 a month

@dragonfire6 my wife and i spoke about it last year when we were in Bimini. Given on the frequency that we would use it, it made no financial sense. This that condo as a boat, it is not the purchase that kills you, it is the maintenance.

Have you gotten a chance to visit first ? I think that might help

@Bruce thanks for the insight & info!
@Betik We haven't been yet but we will be at one of the flings next year. Not sure which way the prices will go between now and then but I guess the first thing I need to do is buy a new boat haha!

@dragonfire6 I do not think you should Bimini as an investment property. Get the boat, get on the 2019 bandwagon and then see what happens.

I believe i was assigned 7Q

@AndyD was moved over there to a unit in building 14.. not sure which one..
We were moved to 14b after no air in 3F AND no air in 4M. I don’t think they were thrilled to move us in there but sounded like there weren’t many options. There are few others in 14 too. The guy from the seperate VA jet ski group that is here is in 14 too.

@Bruce... Fuel tanker is here!

For comparison in 2014 when we arrived both Bimini Sands and Blue Water were out of fuel and Cat Cay had stopped selling to non members. We knew this was the case and actually transported fuel to a JetBoater who was stuck over there. Fuel did not arrive until the Tuesday afternoon and that was to Blue Water. A few of us were able to fuel up late Tuesday evening while everyone else fueled up Wednesday morning.

Has anyone heard of the conditions of 7L and 7R?

We are here in 7L and 7R now. A/C took 24 hours to cool. Good now. Water pressure low — 7L kitchen sink unusable. TVs don’t work (we don’t care but if you do bring AA and AAA batteries for remotes — we think). Wifi not connecting in either unit. Bring some light bulbs. Could use a few more pillows and towels (we have 8 people). We’ve washed all the dishes and silverware.

Upside, units are furnished well. Leather sectional, 6 seat wood dining table in 7L. A/C is working.

AR240 primed and ready for the July trip!
