2021 Current Orders, Deliveries and 2022 Model Startup

The Waverunners use a Nanoexcel SMC hull. It is not the same as an FRP Yamaha boat. AFAIK they still use gel coat on the boats. You can tell this anytime to get dock rash or a scratch. There is no primer or top coat. Just a gel coat on top of the FRP fiberglass hull. That being said there has been some overspray QC issues on the 2020-2021 boats so who knows what the heck they‘re doing these days to get by lol. It won’t be long before someone dings their new boat and posts on here so we shall see.

The waverunners are all paint. The boats are still 100% gelcoat. No paint in those

Interesting, someone else was mentioning the paint being real thin on the 21s. Was told they started painting them but that’s great if that’s not true!

They would never paint the boats. Because its not an in mold process, painting on frp would be too unproductive for a production line like yamaha. Even painted boats need to come out of the mold in gelcoat. Gel is then sanded down, epoxy primed and painted. Then of course that needs to sanded and buffed when its done. Paint is far better than gel but way too expensive of a process for a production boat company. It will never happen.

I went to the Yamaha website and filled out the section with my information in order to receive a call from my local dealer. The same dealership I purchased my 2016 Yamaha. That was 2 weeks ago...... crickets...... As you can imagine with no inventory I assume they have no desire to follow up on any customer interest. I will keep you posted should I receive a callback.

So do they spray gel coat or how is it applied? I’m asking because In another section people are complaining about overspray. I didn’t think you could spray gel coat but maybe I’m wrong.

Yes gelcoat is sprayed into the mold then the glass is laid up on it. Not all parts come out of the mold perfect though so after the part come out of the mold or if there are any fixes that need to be done down the production line then repair gel can be sprayed on like paint then its sanded and buffed smooth. This is where the over spray is coming into play.

So these are the three images to debate. First, Bing. Then second, Google Maps. Then third, Google Earth.

Personally Bing (First Image) is closer to summer than Google Earth is (Third Image) The only debate is which came first.

Well I don't think any of those are accurate. This is from ESRI and with a date of 5/27/2021 from my mapping software. I can pull up Landsat tomorrow I believe when I am at the office.

Oh sweet! I never said when, only brought up the discussion of which one is most current. Thanks. Lookin forward to the new info.

No worries figured I would jump in the conversation. :)

Can also make a good assumption of latest photo from the modified building layout.

Wow you are correct. I didn't even catch that. I guess Bing is the closest to Esri as well. Interesting.

In retrospect, it is 11:00 pm at night and we are stalking satellite imagery of the Yamaha Manufacturing Center.... Hmmm

What else is there to do? xD

Got the call on Saturday that my 21 AR195 was cancelled. They offered to refund my deposit or put me in line for a 2022 so I just kept my spot. Hopefully I'll have a shiny new toy to stare at in the garage this winter.
