question- does the bilge pump have a direct battery hookup that bypasses the battery switches? Or is the bilge deactivated when the battery switches are in the off position?

By sump, do you mean the bilge pump?

If so, on different years there are different configurations, some of the older boats need the house battery switch to be left on, on the newer boats there is a fused direct connection to the bilge pump from the batteries. I believe the main change occurred when the bilge pumps went from the type that cycles every two minutes looking for water to the newer style that has an internal float or sensor.

Yes bilge, sorry. Thank you!
