I bought a 22' 252xe that was heavily used in salt water and plan on rebuilding the jet pumps due to corrosion and cavitation. I am familiar with the older style 242 wear ring housings, just swap in a whole new housing with the stainless steel wear ring already pressed in and it's good. Apparently the 252 has a different wear ring housing design, with a plastic wear ring that is replaceable.

Has anyone tackled replacing the wear ring on the 252 and can share any tips/tricks to make it easier? Planning on removing everything all the way to the transom plate, media blasting it to remove all the salt water corrosion and installing new wear rings.

If you do not have a shop / service manual you should get one before starting this project and get all the required materials and tools before beginning this project.

The new style wear rings are stainless steel and press in #2
