Anyone look into adding the Helm Master to the Yamaha boats that do not come with it?

Not sure I want to be the first to try it but if it works I would definitely be in on it. Theoretically since the new 255 FSH model has it, seems like it would be doable to add to my 250?

or am I dreaming?

You‘re dreaming… first you have to have the electric steering, then it has to be the version that would support moving the thrust nozzles in different directions.

You can get a lot of maneuvering control by splitting the throttles, I’m still impressed at what my friend can do with my boat, so I keep practicing to get better.

I didn't think about the electric steering.....that would be a must.

The updated Helm master EX for this year for Yamaha digital outboard engines, on new build boats, will integrate with a bow thruster for enhanced control during spot lock, drift point, and auto pilot features.

Piggy backing on this one. Currently in the beginning stages of looking at the 2024 FSH models and I was wondering if it’s possible to install the helm master ex on the 222 FSH sport e?

Please read this thread front the beginning …

In typical Yamaha fashion, they play fast and loose with the terminology to keep us confused... I am assuming (but don't know for certain) that what they are calling "Helm Master" is just the joystick interface to what's called DriveX on other models. The website is clear to state that the 255 FSH Sport H has "Helm Master Joystick Control Technology". Helm Master EX for outboards is something quite different in terms of the implementation. In any case, as @fsh-210-sport.24863 said, there would be no way to retrofit something.

Its a very similar implementation as the outboards. HelmMaster on jets requires the ability to split the jets in both direction and thrust - same way the outboards do it (or pair w/bow thruster on single engine apps).
