Bimini 2018

If it is a freezing Sunday in January, and nobody is posting, sumthin aint right.... ;)
Just waiting for dates. I have 3 other big events that all want similar dates.

Typically everyone has filled them out at the hotel the night before departure. There are longer forms that need to filled out and printed on legal paper in advance.

PRINTED ON LEGAL PAPER

I have always printed my forms on standard paper, 8.5 x 11, and never have had an issue.

I understand they are getting picky.

@Andy S, those forms on the website are legal (8.5”x14”) sized. When you print them on standard 8.5”x11” paper they are scaled down. I believe some had to fill out new forms last year when they tried to hand in 8.5”x11” prints. Hopefully it will not be an issue again. I have always printed the form on legal paper. Most printers adjust easily to print the longer paper.

So these form are different than the ones i had the bahamas tourist board send me?
The forms you need to print and will fill out are for customs, 5 page form and one set per boat. The long narrow forms you requested are immigration forms and 1 form per person. When clearing in Bimini you will go through Customs which has one office is at the Big Game Club and then you go through Immigration which is located just north of the Big Game Club in the police station.

Depending on home many people go, we might be able to get the a customs and immigration agents to come to the Bimini Sands to clear us there.

I had to redo my forms on legal size. :(

Well I am going to be a rebel then because I'm printing my forms on 8.5'' x 11'' paper just like they are setup on the Bahamas website, https://www.bahamas.com/faq/entering-exiting-policies . Also, no where on the Bahamas site does it mention the forms need to printed on legal paper or what size the paper needs to be.

Yes, last year i had to redo the paperwork b/c they were printed on non-legal paper.

Bottom line, standard paper misses the bottom 3 inches of the form. I hadn’t noticed and once it was pointed out, i could see they were right,.., and i got Writing, again, with the whole form.

That seems to answer the question. I have just printed mine on 8.5"x 11" and verified all the fields are on each page. So to me isn't the size of the page but the fact the some that printed on 8.5" x 11" for whatever reason did get all the fields.

Yes if you printed it and was missing fields you surely had to do them over again. I printed 8 out at the hotel on 8.5X11 for our crew and we were fine but we did have all fields. I think a lot of this depends on who you have as an agent some of these guys are more picky then others just depends but if you have all the info on there I don't see them denying it as they don't wan't to sit there while you redo paper work either.

I likely accepted default printing configs that were NOT “Fit to page”.

Bottom line, only 3 options:
-Print on legal paper (safest)
-Print on standard paper, set print job to “fit to page” (or whatever, but get the whole form). (Small risk of being bumped to #3.
-Fill out in office in Bimini.

Nothing fatal, only rum/beer delay (which hurts a lot, depending on the crossing.)

After that 5 hour crossing I could be missing my arm, my leg or my tower ( ouch!) and I would have not noticed. Missing field at the very bottom could very likely been the case.

The voice of reason would say " didn't you print those forms at home Betik?" and I will proudly recite my rights under the 5th amendment

That is one thing that should be put in the preparation list...Remove the anchor from the locker , wrap it completely in padding and store it in the head or at the back.
Hello fellas, just now reading the thread.
@Amar Nanduri, Chaparral anchor locker have locks to hold the anchor in place. I didn't run into any problem with it in the crossing.

I can't say the same for both of my batteries. The plastic battery hold downs broke and they ended up almost inside the bilge if it wasn't for the tight battery cable connectors. :nailbiting:

@fromrio . I will get with you and make sure all is ok with my chap. I am also thinking of installing an extra spare battery to be on safe side.

With those of you with the newer 24 ft Yamahas, did anyone tie down there batteries anymore then how they come from the dealer? If you didn't, did they stay in place on the bimini trip last year?
