Charleston Cooper River Run up to Pinopolis Lock May 20th 2017

So @Andy S even hinted in our conversation before posting this that he may have thought I was going to launch from Myrtle lol. It's not Vicky it a 10 month old son who may not be up for this. Now if you are going to come to Myrtle Friday night and Brittany and Josie want to ride down to Charleston with them in a car Saturday morning I maybe able to pull that off but not sure. I have done that trip before and its not that bad just a long pushed day. I will have to see who commits to going if the right person does with a boat may even pass them off on a boat and join you on a ski doing this.

Well that's one way to make sure your son is a water baby. I'm not sure Brittany would want to entertain Josie on a boat for that long, so props to you guys. If we did something like that, I might just leave them at the beach for the day but I don't know. It's a ways out, but wanted to put it out there to give you something to think about.

Well thats what I'm saying if we did that we leave on boats and or skis in the morning and the girls drive down and meet us in Charleston and just do the cooper river run. We know your daughter can handle that round trip.

Oh gotcha, yeah that would definitely work. Josie would be fine for that long as she typically goes with the flow, but I know Brit would get tired of having to entertain her. But then again, there's the Elizabeth factor ;)

Man and I thought we were boys @Andy S in all the hours I spent on your boat with you I was never given that offer
@robert843 hey buddy I didn't mean to hurt your feeling but I'm hopefully dangling a big enough carrot in front of @ACrews so that he will join us on this trip, you have never needed a carrot to join. But if you really want to drive my boat you are more than welcome to do so at anytime.

@Ramblin Wreck I need to know how y'all got Josie to ride as good as she does. Eli does great until he gets sleepy. Then he bounces off the walls trying to stay awake. Lol

Her first long ride was in @chris24 boat to Bimini in 2015. After that an all day river run is a piece of cake. Hahaha

I'm all seriousness, she's just an easy kid. I think it has more to do with the girl to boy difference at that age. I think girls are just easier when they are young but make up for it in their teenage years.

So we are busy on the 20th and cant make it... We soo enjoyed this trip last year. My wife said it was the best mothers day ever. With that said, is there any interest from anyone to do the run this year on mothers day weekend like we did it last year? Spend the night in Charleston and go back the following day? Last year we were a little unlucky and didn't get into Charleston until late afternoon / evening.. my wife and i talked last year about going back to Charleston during the summer to enjoy the harbor but we never made the 4 hour trip down. I purchased a chatplotter this winter and plan on installing it this spring but i wont have much time to play with it... We would love it if someone who is familiar with the run were interested... also we have never gone through the locks... just throwing it out there.. It's not the cheapest run with the over night stay and marina rental.. not trying to high jack.. My wife was just disappointed that we could not go this year...

Not a high jack at all. We actually talked about those dates but with it being graduation week in Charleston we decided to avoid it. I expect there will be some interest in your plan I expect a much smaller group on my end this year with it being a one day round trip that will likely detour some people with it being a long day.

If Karie can get that weekend off too, I'm all about it @bronze_10 . Love that trip

I am 100% in!!!!!!! put me on the confirmed list. I'm not sure who all will be with me as far as family goes but the Ballard boat will be there.

Couldn't agree more @Eric Ballard already looking forward to it. We always enjoy this trip glad you can join us.

If you're primary a lake boater and haven't ran the ICW or one of these coastal rivers I would highly encourage you to consider this trip. It really has a lot to offer for the whole family. For the wife, I would make it a long weekend and visit downtown Charleston and maybe cruise around the bay to see the forts, submarine/battleship at Patriots Point, and even maybe run up/down the ICW a little to sight see the local waterfront homes. By no means am I a Charleston tourist guide, but my wife and I have really enjoyed it every time we've visited. I highly recommend visiting the residential part of downtown Charleston as the history and homes are worth the visit. 3 to 4 days would be a great Valentines present. Also, if you have kids it might just be dumb luck but I swear the place seems to be covered in dolphins. If you boat around the bay you are destined to see some. I think I've seen more dolphins in Charleston then I have in the Bahamas. The water is slightly a different color ;) but my daughter still loves seeing them.

Here's our short video from this past spring. If you haven't seen what @Andy S traded his Yamaha in for, you can check it out at about the 3:48 mark. It's the white boat and kind of hard to miss. Hope to see you on the water!

We definitely want to make the trip again; but want more time in Charleston. The kids will still be in school then, so those weekends will still be pretty tight on time. We are a maybe for one of those weekends but not sure just yet.

I was thinking in my head as I was reading this I thought @Andy S didn't drive his boat but I forgot he leaves his main boat docked at City Marina and tows the dingy lol.
