I need to start this project soon. Where did you end up getting your power? Have you had any problems with breakers tripping? Thanks!
 
I did this a month or two ago. Since the hole is above the waterline I don't see much to worry about. I added a backup bilge at the same time. The bilge is powered by a mechanical float that is connected to the battery and also a switch that I installed at the helm. So had a new power supply for mine. However, the OEM wires are plenty thick enough to handle the additional current of a fish finder if you don't mind sharing the power switch or leaving it on all the time.
 
Can you mount this transducer thru the hull? I have an Elite 4 HDI and was wondering I could mount it as a shoot thru the hull.
 
Yes, you can mount it from inside the hull in a bed of epoxy.
