I want to go and look at this boat. Im seriously considering buying it. Never owned a boat. Been around bass boats and whatnot growing up. Out the door 43k. Seems a little high... what are some things I should check? Its at a dealer. No maintenance records. Said it came from Chicago. Seems to be in great condition.

Looks pretty clean. I have the same model and year and have been very pleased with it. Paid $45,000 in August of last year.

Check the oil for signs of water. Get a good look at the impellers for damage.

Whats the hours on it? I didn't see it in the ad.
I would try to get it a little lower maybe 41 otd.
Does it come with any extras?

252 hrs. JL speakers, a new trailer and a mooring cover is about it fir extras

The price dropped to $39K.
Go online and read the owners manual to familiarize yourself with the boat before going to look at it.
YAMAHA BOATS OWNER'S MANUALS

Have the dealer hook up each both engines and check for alarms. Any overheating alarms will be stored in the ECU’s of the engines.
Pull the dipstick and check the oil. Is it jet black? Does it smell fried? Or is it newer or dark amber and smell okay? Is it milky looking which would indicate water intrusion?

Open the gas cap and smell the gas. Does it smell like good gas or turpentine?

Take the boat for at least a 30 minute sea trial.
The steering wheel should move freely with no rough spots.
With the engines off, move the throttle / shift levers back and forth independently
The engines should start relatively easily and idle smoothly and evenly.
There should be good water flow out of the pilot outlets
Cruise around for a while and make a run at WOT for at least 5 minutes.
Open the engine bay after running the boat and listen to each engine running one at a time.
NO SEA TRIAL NO SALE. There’s been several people at this site who did not sea trial the boat they bought and were very sad.

At 10 years old & 252 hours and no maintenance records, there are some maintenance items that will need to be done;
Start the engines on the hose and using a long dowel or screwdriver as a stethoscope listen to the intermediate bearings.
Pull the grease cones on the end of the jet pumps to check for water intrusion and the pack the cones with EPNOC grease.
These engines seem to be sensitive to spark plugs going bad and there has been several people who fixed rough running or under performing engines with a spark plug change. Put in new spark plugs and properly gap them before installing them.

These boats have less maintenance requirements than a traditionally powered boat but there are a few maintenance items that need to be addressed. Typically it’s 100 hours on the engine oil, spark plugs, and jet pump maintenance.

If it’s your first boat and you’re not comfortable working on it yourself call a shop other than the selling dealer and get pricing on what @FSH 210 Sport lists: plugs, oil change, jet pump maintenance and air filter inspection (not replacement necessarily).
Sticker shock may occur but you need to factor that into purchase cost since no service records.

As someone who's currently trying to sell a boat... It's not going to sell quickly. Offer them $30k it's probably the only offer they've gotten and might take it. Hell, offer $25k.
