JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 10th to 15th 2017

Looks like the dates are not going to work for us after all. Anyone interested in a trip June 4th (Sunday) - 10th (Saturday). We are flexible on a day or two either way.
First trip over and would like to team up with a few boats if possible. I have a Red 2016 24 Limited S - E-series and live in Lake Mary, FL.

If I can't find a couple more boats to go looking to hire a captain to lead us over. Any advice?

Thanks.

Thanks. I ill check it out.

@Justin Edwards, Bahamas Tourism is leading a group over June 15 to 19th.

I saw that. We were trying to get a trip in before one of our boys has to leave for college summer classes. Thanks for the info though. Much appreciated!

There are lots of opportunities to tag along with other boats going over. Please be careful whatever you decide and whoever you decide to cross with, Please file a float plan, make sure your boat is in top condition and everyone going is ready to pound waves. If you post final dates and a link to whatever tracker you will be using many of us will be happy to speculate about the weather and monitor your crossing. For a single boat crossing I would be looking for less than 2 foot seas hopefully much less.

The Whalers recently posted that their Rendezvous will be June 13th to 17th so those are dates to avoid.

Yes sir. I have done all my research about the trip and being very thorough about all safety opportunities! I am on my 2nd life after a diving mishap 5/24/2016 so safety is the key word on this trip!
Especially since I will have my girlfriend and two seniors graduating high school. Along with two boating and dive pros. Thanks for the advice!!!!

Diving mishaps are very effective on putting safety as the top priority.
I have been trapped in an uderwater cave while solo diving. For 10 minutes I could not go forward, backward, up or down. I could only rotate and that required removing tanks and harness. :nailbiting: I got lucky because it was the beginning of the dive and less than 500feet from the entrance.

@robert843 I just ran across your raw footage of the 2015 crossing. I've never seen that before. Pretty interesting watching @Andy S fish for coolers. I like my FX but I do miss the sound of a rotax. The conditions last year may have been better and of course the camera never gives justice to the conditions, but it seems like that's about the norm for the Atlantic from the little I've experienced. I do remember the inlet being calmer last year when we left though. I enjoyed the raw footage.

Why did everyone stop 10 minutes into the crossing? Is this when a boat got swamped?

Yes, we stopped to help.

For salt water newbies, as frightening as it may be when approaching rough water, stay on the throttle and keep your bow up. Our boats do a great job of deflecting water but not when we are off the throttle and the bow is dipped down. Yell for everyone to hang on and power through. It's scary as hell at first but you'll get used to it.

Man I forgot that video was out there. Yeah it was a debris field there tough to see in the video but there is all kinds of stuff floating around coolers. bumpers, cans of soda, bread and just about everything else you would pack for this trip.

A lovely photo of the docks at Big Game Club

@ClemsonTiger what night are you serving fresh caught Bimini sushi for the group poolside? I've been living vicariously through all your fishing threads and I figured you would be dropping lines at some point during the trip. Last time I was with @1948Isaac the results didn't look that same, but @Andy S was sure proud of his catch :D. But to be fair, if I was responsible for fishing I would show up with a Zebco 33 and loath of bread as that's about the depth of my fishing expertise.

Thats more like it @Ramblin Wreck Maybe @Andy S didn't get the big ones but he can cook for sure. Maybe @Andy S will change his mind and end up coming to bimini as well for some night fishing and now we good fishing poles too.
I would love to join you guys for some night fishing in Bimini but darn it work is getting in the way.
