Was this extra component used in the earlier demo videos?
Not sure how far back you're referring to, but the answer I think you're looking for is no. This product is only a few weeks old. We've been using it since this video was produced:

Hey guys and gals, we are preparing to ship product and before we do we wanted to get as much new info to you as we could. You really can't imagine all the work that is going on right now to ensure that everything ships on time and with quality. We're producing new video content to update you on new advancements that have been ongoing and that will make it into kits preparing to ship on the 21st(keep your fingers crossed on that date).

This is the first of several videos that we are debuting today. Its a new breakthrough in the Thrust Vector Wake product which was discovered only weeks ago. It is giving us incredible results and the gorgeous wave that you've been seeing in all our twin engine videos has been, in part, created with the help of this breakthrough component! We're calling it JetWash Deflector. Here is a video introduction to the JetWash Deflector.

Is this included with a single engine as well?

No not required to get the same results. The single engine's jet wash is located in the center of the hull which by nature provides deflection of the upswell of water coming from beneath the boat (the culprit for much of the spray observed on the surf side of a surf wave).

Will,
The 2018 and older 19’s have the ladder on the left side. Which is the normal surf side, when listing the boat might this product be beneficial to keep the wave clean. If the ladder is in the water?

I likely failed to make this clear, this product is only necessary on the twin engine kits. The single engine kits will not feature this device as it is not necessary.

If you are out for the day and doing other than surfing, do you just distribute the steel shot bags throughout the boat?

Sorry one more question. Is the idea that you take the deflector on and off when you surf or can you cruise with it attached?

Yes just distribute them in compartments. They're small and take up little room.

As for the JetWash Deflector, it is best to remove it when you're not using it but it is designed for the worst case scenario where someone forgets it and takes of and runs 50 mph with the ladder down.... you know you've done it before!! lol

If it is still in place while running at high speed the down stop prevents it from hitting the water. The boat planes and when it does it rises out of the water. The deflector is completely out of the water at high speeds due to this fact. Hope this helps.

Will, quite a generous gesture throwing in the JetWash Deflector with a Twin jet order-nice touch.

You ROCK!!
I honestly did not think that I could ask people to pay more money when we promised to give them a clean perfect surf wave with what they already agreed to purchase.

We've shown you the new JetWash Deflector, now we'll show you how to install it. This new advancement was created to work in concert with the Thrust Vector Wake. It does a great job of assisting the Thrust Vector Wake to produce a super clean laminar surf wave behind a twin engine Yamaha Jet Boat.

Several have asked if the JetWash Deflector can be added to other systems such as Thrust Vector X or XV or XL. The short answer is no. It is only a piece of the Thrust Vector Wake puzzle that does not accomplish the fullness of what you're seeing in the Thrust Vector Wake videos posted lately. The JetWash Deflector comes with the Thrust Vector Wake as an integral part of the complete system.

There is video already in this thread with the product installed. We'll be doing more marketing type videos very soon as well.

@JetBoatPilot Will, you’re using an X boat to test, but not using any of the built in ballast, right? Could a partial fill of the center bag take the place of your shot in the bow?

I understand the importance of getting the weight as far back as possible. But, what effect does using your rear bags have before (or after) you add the shot?

Would it be possible to get a video using standard X ballast? And, then show your recommended setup? Also, how do you expect the wake to be different when tested on a 24’?

No we've been testing as though we're using the most common setup out there which is no factory bags at all and then adding our ballast system to the boat to show how easy it can be to get a great wave without having to run all that plumbing and take up all that valuable real estate.

We've tested with the standard ballast and the result was not that great. It just does not put the weight nearly far enough back to make a great wave. If you had a 212X and wanted to use the factory ballast as an accent to the steel shot that would probably save you some money, but nothing we've tested gives us the results that the 600 lb bag on the lower swim platform does. It is super dense, concentrated weight all the way aft as far as you can take it and as low as you can take it. It acts like a lever on the stern and pulls the transom down into the water making a huge wave perfect for pushing big riders!

If you want to use the center bag you can certainly do that, it will likely take the place of the weight we're putting in the bow, but bear in mind that too much weight in the bow causes the wave pocket to get longer but the height is diminished. For this reason we've really grown fond of the steel shot bags. You can toss bags around quickly and find the perfect setup easily. Once you've discovered the best setup its easy to write down exactly how many bags you have and where. Your results are easily duplicated.
