I have a ‘08 212x. This is my 4th trip bringing it to Destin, FL from North Louisiana.

Everything runs great engine-wise... unless I cross large wakes or run above 30 mph in heavier chop.

There is a noticeable Knocking noise coming from the starboard stern area. Almost as if there was a Cue Ball banging once each time I cross a heavy wake. I don’t lose rpms or anything and I can’t be 100% sure the sound is not coming from the tower attachment.

Cleanout plugs look good. (I did check for the ole “golf ball lodged in the impeller”)

As long as I keep it around 30 mph and as long a the chop is lighter, there is no sound.

I have some major boating trips coming up... poker runs back in Louisiana and in Texas, and I would LOVE to solve this problem before then.

Any else experience anything like this?

So it's not a repeating sound but one that you hear on each crossing of a heavy wake? Like once per crossing per wake thing?

Could be the impeller making contact with the impeller housing due to a corroded spot. I have my a bad spot on one of my impeller housing(just started) and get a knocking noise during a flush on my lift........if she is in the water no noise. Could be you hear it in choppy water as you shuck in some air or expose your drive that not in clean water.

Right

Once per jump...

I had to check to make sure I didn’t leave some heavy tool or something in the engine compartment or in the storage beneath the seat.

Are you going to try to fix it yourself or bring it in? I like to try to do everything myself if possible.

So I figured out where the “knock”was coming from.

I had purchased some aftermarket knobs for my tower supports. (The old ones were getting real gummy.)

They had loosened up no doubt during trailer transport from Louisiana to Florida.

I just tightened the knobs and no more sound.

Awesome!

Thanks for letting us know the solution!
