Lots of Water from Drain Plug - 2021 212

I ordered the SS thru hull anchor drain that has been recommended on this forum, just as a precaution, but won’t be here for a few more weeks. Glad I did. Was able to verify today that my current anchor drain is also too short. Only about an 1/8 of an inch, but nonetheless short. (2021 212SE)

I got this from Menards. Hardly used any, wish there was a smaller tube...

There is a smaller size. It's a waste of money in comparison, but if you only have one or two things that you need it for, you can save some money.

Your 10oz cartridge is $4 more than this 3oz tube, so for a single use, the 3oz is less, ultimately, but a waste of money compared to the 10oz if you need even a drop more than 3oz. It's also a lot less than 4200, even in comparable sizes.

I have 3 fittings and a drain to install/reseal, and I'm still trying to plan it all for the same day so I don't end up wasting any.

Interesting that fixed your issue. I just noticed some wet carpet in the front storage sections... I'm gonna seal it up and see if that fixes it. What did you use to seal it?

After resealing the factory thru hull fitting a while ago..I use a plug most of the time. Keeps water from rushing in, soaking the anchor line and filling up the compartment, especially in no wake mode with a few people in the bow. I pull it when we return to dock.

Also placed a clam shell cover outside the fitting to deflect the water.

You poor man, defeating all of Yamaha's well-thought-out plans ????

You're like me, I agree with your take on this, hey Yamaha, don't try things that allow water INTO the boat!

The ONLY answer anyone has gotten/posted on this site was that Yamaha put that fitting in to ALLOW water in/out to keep your anchor lines clean, or allow drainage of the water when pulling the anchor.

Sealing it off from the outside and putting a drain in the BOTTOM of the anchor locker would drain "anchor rope water" directly to the bilge, where it could be evacuated by the bilge pump and/or transom drain.

Instead, we have a poorly designed hole in the side of our boats, and another area of potential issues on some boats ???
