FIRST QUESTION
I REMOVED THE BACK PUMP COMPONETS AND CLEANDED AND SANDED. WONDERING WHAT I SHOULD REPAINT THEM WITH, LOOKS LIKE THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOME SORT OF FINISH ON THEM THAT I SANDED OFF, I GOT ALL THE PARTS DOWN TO BARE SHINNY METAL?

I used a rustoleum Black, spray paint and they have held up well for 3 years. I do not boat I’m salt but some brackish water

glad to have you on board, be sure to address the oil lines, don't trust the original ones,

Thanks for the help guys ended up talking to a buddy that worked out of Marina and works on these after I strip them down he said painting with the zinc primer and then a high heat engine paint I just use barbecue grill paint. I got the zinc primer from Sherwin-Williams. I saying that I'm down with a wire wheel and clean them with illuminate a product they use here at the car wash for cleaning all the stainless steel and what notIMG_20171006_171938122.jpg IMG_20171009_140147852.jpg IMG_20171006_171938122.jpg IMG_20171009_140147852.jpg IMG_20171006_171938122.jpg IMG_20171006_171938122.jpg IMG_20171009_140147852.jpg IMG_20171009_044836499.jpg IMG_20171009_145510894.jpg

See the attached Mikuni manual - It is a good read . When I rebuilt the carbs I reused the current springs since it is generally the diaphram, filter, gaskets, and general cleaning that do the trick. Replacing the springs gets into the pop off pressure, needles, and the right springs that adds more complication and where I think some people do more harm than good. If you have the pop-off gauge and know what you are doing, thats great!

Safety wire or hose clamps will work fine. But I like oetiker clamps best.

Nice choice in boats btw

Going to replace the gaskets in the jet clean out plugs and would like to mod them with safety pins to prevent blow out. Any one have a DIY safety pin mod? Thanks

Any one have experance in replacing steering cables?

@piper84 , yes - I replaced my steering cables. Best approach is to tape the new cable to the end of the old one and then pull it up through to the front where it attaches under the windshield access. You will want to take out the rear, cleanout-plug tray so that you have access to where the steering cable goes through the helm to the jet.

Let me know if you have questions and I can try to answer.

Mine probably need to be replaced. But I’m going to try to oil them first. Just need the snow to melt first...

You can find the EZ plug locks on here. If I am not mistaken @Cobra Jet Steering LLC sells a nice set of locks very reasonably priced.

I know it is a safety feature but has anyone bypassed the shift and throttle interlock for ease of starting? Can not use throttles in neutral with interlock.

You should be able to use the throttles in neutral. You just can’t shift with the throttle applied. It sounds like they may be misadjusted.
