Need a new fuel tank!

That's fantastic news Renee, glad you got her running again...woot!!

That's awesome that you got it going.

It would put my stomach in knots to have to perform a C-section on my boat like that to get the tank out.

Great news! It has been a long road for you.

Glad to hear the news @MutherTucker. Now get out on the water and make some good memories to help erase the not so good ones from the past few months.

out of curiosity, i would be very interested in knowing how your guy has remounted the floor. i'm assuming it is in there temporarily so it can come back up when the new tank arrives. are he/you planning on keeping it removable? could you get some pics of however he has sorted this out? thanks!

Well, the road gets longer. I picked up the boat on Sunday, let it sit in the street for a few days to make sure no leaks would pop up. Went to put it in the water on Tuesday and sure enough it was leaking gas again. The patch did not hold. We didn't think it would anyway, so I was not surprised. I was just hoping it would hold for the duration.

@CrankyGypsy I will take some photos of how he temporarily set the fiberglass. He braced it with wood, but we put a piece of plywood over it. We didn't want anyone to step on a corner and crack the cut piece.

Once the new tank comes in they will repair the fiberglass and also fill my snap holes all at once, then the sea dek will go down. I'm not going to leave the whole tank accessible. We will run it several times to make sure it's braced well and all connections are tight before the fiberglass repair is done.

They ordered the tank on 6/10. They gave me a 45 day or less lead time. July 25th or sooner.....If I make it to boat weekend with a functional boat it will be a small miracle.

Aw, crap. Sorry to hear about the re-leak.

At this point I recommend you say @#$@% it and get one of these:

Upsides: no more oil changes, no more fillups, no oil to change, no plugs. I'm telling you, I think I'm onto something here!

Hang in there.
This sucks Renee....I was stoked for you to get back out there for the 4th.

This "less maintenance" route may be the way to go and with the "Power Grip" You may be able to get a kneeboarder up.

bummer about the temp fix. thanks for the offer of the pics, but if the plan is to permanently seal it back up, don't worry about it. thanks though.

Nightmare. Feel really bad for you. Hang in there.

:(

It never ceases to amaze me how much things we love can cause such frustration. ...especially boats. Sorry to hear about this Renee.

@MutherTucker Any updates with some good news?

Nope. I just sent a very frustrated email to the dealer demanding a ship date. I think he is frustrated too though because he usually responds to me immediately and he was expecting an answer from Yamaha on Friday to no avail. It's just a waiting game. I'm a slave to the process. And I hate it! It will be a miracle if I have it by the time of our boat gathering. :banghead:

Just know that many of us are feeling your pain and wishing you a great outcome. Hang in there.
