Looking to get the expert opinions on where to mount my Garmin transducer. I've read several threads with great info but wanted to ask about the locations pictured below given the size of the transducer. It's nine inches long and I'm worried about the rudder interfering with it. These threads are where I started to think about mounting it. I'm leaning towards the area in pic one like @subysti did, but without a second transducer to port. Thoughts?

I just bought this same unit on Saturday. I was thinking of making it a shoot thru hull when I bought it. I could not find a place that I could mount it. After working on it today I'm thinking of returning the unit due to the large size of the transducer. I'm afraid if I mount outside of the hull it will be knocked off. I'm watching this thread for ideas also. Thanks for posting.

Will that not infringe upon the Articulating keels range of motion? (pic 2)

It's hard to tell from pic 2, but the rudder is completely turned to port. @scubarick314 will this transducer work well in a shoot thru setup, with downvu and other readings? And did you find a spot for placement? I'd prefer shoot thru.

I was told by the Garmin rep that I would probably lose Downvu and some detail. I was going to put it above the port side bunk. When I got into it I would have had to sand down around 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and still would have been canted several degrees. It was also too narrow. I hope that this helps.
