Russia Invades Ukraine AND Chinese Aircraft Enter Taiwan Airspace

Russian forces are less than 20 miles away from the capital. Does Ukraine give up to save innocent lives?
I don't know if they stand a chance.

The Ukraine has 200,000 to 250,000 active duty military and a similar amount in reserve units. The Russian invasion force is estimated to be around 200,000. The Ukraine's fixed positions are unlikely to hold against Russia's artillery and air power. The Ukraine's air force is likely already disabled. If the Ukrainian people choose to fight they likely can destroy a lot of Russian equipment with armored vehicles and shoulder fired missiles.

There is quite a bit of info at

Ukraine - The World Factbook and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_of_Ukraine

However like all countries I am sure they limit what is known about military capability.

They never had a chance to begin with. If we'd supplied them with an air defense system it might have been a better approach to dissuading an invasion....but no President chose to do that.

since im in the defense industry ukraine does not have enough credibility since they are half in bed with russia. they are not allowed to have our f-35 or missile shield defense systems since they were not part of NATO and risk exploiting our systems risking security to other nations. look what happened to Turkey when they aquired russia's missile defense system, we said no way jose into selling any of our f-35s

Agreed, if you give them our most sophisticated equipment whose to say Russia or China won't get their hands on it.

@TX_Mercenary, both the reality that the Ukraine government could shift to favor Russia in the future and that having our best defense systems captured by a Russian ground invasion was a real possibility. The Russians likely would have already captured those systems with ground troops if they had been there.

i mean everything they relied on was russia influence anyways "big brother". Had they been with NATO and abide by our terms, this outcome of being invaded wouldn't have happened, they would've kept their sovereignty. but they want to play both sides and eat their cake. Russia is winding back the clock during USSR times and taking back land that gives them warm water access.

History speaks for its self. The current administration has allowed quite a bit to occur in a little over a year. Taiwan will be next.

Ssssh. Don’t say the truth too loudly. You’re supposed to mumble that under your breath and stick head in the sand ;)

So what, specifcally, could the current administration have done that was different from the last?

Everyone posting on this topic is laughable. So far the smartest guy and post is @swatski for leaving it….. if he can actually do that. And yes his last post before the adios post was politically offsides. Officially ………….. IGNORE!

So does this make you laughable because you posted on it?

Uncle B is about to lose his source of illegal funding. That’s why he’s so concerned. If Russia takes over Ukraine, his illegal retirement fund will dry up. He will have used quid pro quo to fire the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating his son for naught. If Biden had half a brain, he would immediately renew all the leases for oil production that he restricted. He would also authorize all the pipeline deals again. It would create an immediate surge in our economy, and ease fears of investors, and boost the stock market. But, his preference has never been for us Americans. He is going to continue doing everything he can, to increase the power of our enemies, by restricting our own prosperity.
Oh man, wait for it....

Everyone knows it’s true. They might not like it, but they know it’s true. He has zero concern for our own borders, but is vehemently demanding that the borders be defended where his financial interests rest.

Easy, This is border line political. Bruce?

Seriously?

If you read through the thread you see "History speaks for its self. The current administration has allowed quite a bit to occur in a little over a year. Taiwan will be next. "

Followed by "Ssssh. Don’t say the truth too loudly. You’re supposed to mumble that under your breath and stick head in the sand ;) "

And then my post. "So what, specifcally, could the current administration have done that was different from the last?"

Yet, you call out my post?

Politics aside, I honestly would like to know how the American response could have been better?

I don't know if it was much about response but more about actions that should've been taken by the current administration for a situation like this to not happen.

Here is my question
2008 (Bush): Attack Georgia
2014 (Obama): Attack Ukraine/Crimea
2016 (Trump): No Attack
2022 (Biden): Attack Ukraine
One president (The prior administration) is the only one to stop Russia from performing an invasion during their presidency. Also the only president to step into North Korea, the mans foreign policy in most areas was flawless. Others... not so much.

I am glad to see Russians in Moscow and St Petersburg protest the war. Dozens were arrested.

Because….he was what, secretly tough on them? Are the current ridiculous comments part of that ongoing strategy?
Laughable.

I personally dislike all of them. To be fair though, the previous had 8 years.
