Sotally Tober 6 Conceptual Build - 2024 222SE

Thought just came to me, couldn't someone with 3D printing or other technology make a rubber cover like the 195s have on the head unit while running, then remove them when anchored?

Great idea! I'll be using this Wet Sounds grill for the subs on the swim step. Hoping that will add some extra protection.

I wonder if there is any sort of spray on coating I could use for added protection from the elements ?Screenshot 2023-04-01 at 17.52.40.png

I wouldn’t even stress it in freshwater. I got a decent amount of hours out of my JLs in salt in that place. One tweeter went bad. Subs will be perfectly fine there especially in fresh.

Insane setup…now what about the stripper pole?

Love the rear transom subwoofer idea. I told my wife I wanted to do that last year on our 255xd and she thought I was crazy. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Also the sub box over the fuel tank is great idea.

On the NSX, play around with the C-Map app and make sure you like the map and is what you would like to use for your location. This is the only map the NSX currently supports. I have the NSX on my boat and have some regret on the purchase as I think that the Nacivo maps are more accurate for my area, especially at low tide.

the NSX does not have its full functionality programmed yet and the updates they are making center around engine integration which we cannot use anyway, (and only with Merc engines).

Right now I think the Axiom is a better more complete product at the same price point. More features, including multiple map options. Just a thought.

I too think the Axiom is better. I had the Simrad Go7 on the last boat 242x. It was nice but the Axiom has a lot more to offer. I want to run the real 3d sonar and maybe a rear camera. Looking at a Axiom 9.

I would 100% go Axiom. I wouldn’t even consider anything else.

The rear subwoofer box will block the fire port for the engines... Consider adding a fixed fire extinguishing system back there.

I know, I know. I'm still to blown away by the audio proposal to make substantive comment on that...

X4 on the Axiom 9. Installed the 9RV four years ago on the Beneteau and like the detail it shows. Set up with the in hull transducer rv-200 or transom mounted rv-100, it can delineate the thermocline. Good for fishing, scuba diving and staying out of the cold water.
This past Summer our boat took a lightening strike in her slip. It took out our ev-100 wheel mounted auto pilot control, mounted below deck. We sent the electronic compass back to Raymarine in NH for repair. They fixed the fried compass for less than $200, way less than new and turn around time was less than a month. Will find out how the repair works soon as we splash in 5 weeks.

Thanks for the tip. After all the Axiom+ recommendations, I think I will go that route.

I also had a Go5 on my 2019 242SE. Looks like I. will be picking up an Axiom+ 7!

I noticed that as well. Thanks for the back up.

Yup! You guys sold me on a Axiom+ 7!

With the Axiom, I would do a hide away receiver and connect it to the Axiom via NMEA2000 to control it. I am tempted to do this on mine. The Connext is useless.

Agreed. I plan on severing the Connext from the sound system and run the Wet Sounds MC-1 Head Unit independently. The MC1 does not have NMEA2000 functionality but that is alright as I prefer to use the head unit.

For all you with an Axiom... Does the satellite overlay map option come with the unit or is it something that I have to purchase after?

It depends on the package you buy. Ours came with Navionics. This one I just screen shotted from West Marine has Navionics. They usually need to have charts upgraded which may cost a subscription fee

That is disappointing on their end for such an expensive unit. Check out some videos of the Axiom running a stereo, it's a really clean look IMO.
