Hi everyone! Hope you are all safe and healthy!

Besides oil change and spark plugs replacement, anything else I should do on my boat in preparation for spring/summer season?

2016 Yamaha 242 Limited S.

Those are the biggies. I always make sure my batteries are fully charged.

And of course, don’t forget the drain plug! Be there, done that.
 
Lube the intermediate bearings.
Being that your boat is a 2016, perhaps check the impeller bearings.
Lube the throttle, shaft, and turning cables.
Pull your clean out plug tray and check all of the hose clamps in that area.
In your engine compartment, check all of the hose clamps
Check all of the wiring harnesses for chafing and that they are secure.
Check, grease, and or repack the trailer wheel bearings.
Check, and grease all of the suspension pivot points.
Check the bilge pump for proper operartion
Lastly, go through your owners manual, page 160, and make sure all of the maintenance items have been taken care of.

Good info @FSH 210 Sport. Do you lube the intermediate bearing annually? Same thing with the impeller bearings?

Yes, I lube the intermediate bearings annually. As I just read in another thread about that this morning, use a deft touch on the grease gun when applying grease to the intermediate bearings, as soon as the grease line / hose starts to get stiff that means the space is full of grease. You can also tell as the resistance on the grease gun handle increases.

I have not done the impeller bearings yet as I only have about 40 hours on the engines, once the hours come up I will do the impeller bearings as well, I suspect there will be enough hours on the engines by the end of this season that I will do them over next winter.

@GoodCubanito .... IMO I have always done most of the items listed in this thread BEFORE I put it in storage for the many reasons I have listed before but most notably to remove harmful contaminants from the oil before storage and to grease and lubricate to avoid corrosion before storage. Pretty much all I have to do after storage is a light wash, staged battery charge, load the boat and check the trailer tire pressures. :cool:

I find myself doing all the things on that list that I missed the fall before. I really always want to do them in the fall, but find myself boating till the bitter end. In other words, it's just warm enough to do one last pressure wash, and then find a skim of ice on the lake the next day!

I'm did all my oil/lube jobs last fall. But I truly want to do more cosmetic things this spring. Warm spring sun will get me out there doing an acid wash on the hull, buffing the small scratches, possibly a full hull buff and was. I do have a couple spots that may get that spectrum gelcote that I have been avoiding too.

Run around with a screwdriver and touch all those hinge screws that may have worked out, or even hitting them with 5200 if they have stripped. I have yet to have lubed throttle/shift/steering cables.

While I can’t go right to the thread with this info, there is at least one really good thread about removing and replacing the pumps to check/service these bearings. I don’t know why my mind goes to 200 hours on the interval, but I’d think the 100 hour mark would be a good one to at least pull them and make sure there is no water intrusion behind the cone.

Just do a search here on the site and you will probably find the threads that deal with this... otherwise I’m sure someone will chime in at some point... @Julian
