Has anyone figured out tackle box storage for the 222 FSH? I noticed it was on the 19 and 25 footer but nothing on the 22.

I don’t have a 222 FSH …I have the 210 and there was no dedicated tackle storage on my boat. I’ve tossed around a few ideas, building a set of shelves into the starboard storage pod that would hold Plano 3600 trays, getting a custom helm seat made with a built in tackle center, but I think I will just stay with my two tackle bags that hold four Plano trays each. I like having the ability to take the bags out for when I have guests and the two storage pods provide plenty of transient storage when my tackle bags and down riggers and skeg are removed. Getting a custom helm seat / tackle center made takes away the space for my ice chest and or my extra 22 gallon fuel tank.

I'm wondering if one of the other size boats tackle storage could be retro-fitted into the 222. My son is in the process of switching over to all 3700 see boxes so i'd have to take that into account. Not sure those boxes would even fit the door opening on the storage compartments.

You can buy pre fabbed tackle tray storage boxes that can be installed into a boat… the 3600’s are 10” wide and the 3700’s are 14” wide… I see Plano makes four tray portable bags for their different tackle trays, that could be an option for you that doesn’t lock up storage capacity. Of the two bags I have, one is the primary and has the most used tackle in it, the second has walleye specific rigs in it as well as some other less used tackle and that bag usually lives in the head compartment.

Anyone come up with a good solution since this post was created? The tackle storage on the 255 is amazing. The loss of storage for bumpers and life jackets on a smaller boat may need a trimmed down version though. Something similar to the setup below but not at the $500 price point I see these units go for.

Have a look at these tackle boxes… I have the magnum and the vault and will be putting them to use in my boat over the winter by making better use of the starboard storage pod..

Those are pretty slick setups. Definitely better pricing than what I was looking at. Trying to decide if a drawer setup is better than removable boxes like the 3700's. I have a large box from years past but it is probably not a good fit for the boat, a bit clunky. Thanks.

I searched to no avail for something that would fit in one of the pod doors that wasn’t crazy expensive and never found anything that made sense. The angle of the pod cuts down on how deep the drawers can be. I mean you would get the same 5 trays that fit in a soft sided tackle bag. Plus it blocked access to the area behind it. I ended up with 2 tackle bags and a small plastic tote for bigger things like planer boards. It all fits in the port pod leaving starboard pod for guest tackle or the wife’s stuff.
The only sorta creative thing I came up with was putting some screws on the inside of the door and hanging spools of leader for quicker re-rigging. I don’t seem to have a picture handy tho.
Would love to see a better idea!

In the starboard storage pod I currently have two soft bags with 4 trays in each one, pockets that hold extra spools, leader and flashers, a case that holds four umbrella rigs, and three small soft bags with with hoochies and cut plugs in them, and a wrap with a lot of crank baits. There is a narrow card board box that holds extra flashers. Sorry no pics.

The two soft bags sit on top of each other, and the umbrella rig case sits on top of them. The wrap goes up along the side of the fish box against the hull, the three small pouches just sit on the floor. Hoping to put that magnum case, mine doesn’t have drawers just slots for Plano trays, in the storage pod with trays for the species being targeted with the vault on top, or it may hold the three small pouches. It’ll be interesting to see how that works out as I have a system now with the one soft bag being pulled out and pulling the desired tray out, getting what I need, and putting it all back in the pod to keep the clutter to a minimum on deck.

I have found my livewell to be useless. It gets too much engine heat and thus I use freestanding bait tank for live bait. I don’t fish tournaments so any fish I keep come home in cooler. It used to be ballast but I haven’t used it for that since splitting the batteries one on each side.
So I have started using it for tackle storage. I disconnected the pump switch so I don’t accidentally turn it on. I have a small plastic tote ($2.50 at Home Depot) for planer boards and associated trolling stuff, a 4tray soft tackle box and cutting board, floodlight and some other stuff in there. It’s much easier to access than the pod it seems and now pod is available for some other stuff.
Cheers
