@Evil Sports, it would be nice if this was the final peak. Unfortunately we are not doing anything to make that so. So it seems unlikely.

Air Conditioning and tourism. In July Northerners are outside and Floridians are inside. The air conditioning produces cool dry air which the virus loves.
My area is not to bad but dade county, people love it there. Gorgeous water, white sand beaches, nice breezes, night life open till 3. I don't get it. Thank God we're free with not a care in the world.

The swiss cheese model applies well to respiratory viruses. Each individual slice benefits the community but no single slice can completely protect an individual. Stacking all the slices provides the greatest personal protection.

Things are going the wrong way in central (Riverside hospital) and southern Ohio (Southern Ohio Medical center) All of the patients are between 30-50 and almost all are unvaccinated. Please take care.

edit- added hospital names

Wildfires, floods, eviction tsunami, Delta Variant, mass shootings...... I shouldn't have watched the national news. Went to the back porch with some Angels Envy Rye to remember life is good in Delaware County Ohio. ?

That’s my understanding. So why was it even considered for the recommendations here?
No idea, doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Defintely raises more questions.

You just described where we live lol. Downtown St. Pete is pretty damn crowded all the time, well the whole county is.

IMO that is the smartest move we can make, however, in my case it is either a great glass of wine or sipping rum.[flag]

If I was not already vaccinated this would be much more than convincing.

This study is garbage. All I got from this was that after cherry picking 100 people from an internet study of 6800, 28% of people currently with COVID have a problem getting it up. Um... no shit? lol Your body is fighting off a virus, it's a little busy doing something else.

Damn....I go to Roatan, Hondurus for a week and this thing is 10 pages longer.....

I really think many of the objections to the vaccine on here have gotten some what lost on their true common denominator. This is just my theory based on catching up on this thread so don't shoot me. Some folks fear a "1984" dystopian direction our great country is headed. They don't want to be forced or mandated to do something by big brother. That government is already too much a part of our lives. While catching up I liked a post by someone on here a few pages back. The post was short and concise and read that vaccines would be okay for jobs, large events, mass transit, etc. But, not so okay from a federally mandated level. So, you as the American have the choice...you want to ride in an airplane, then get a vaccine. You don't want the vaccine, then drive to where you need to go, but don't subject yourself to a mass crowd.

Just to reiterate, I received the vaccine. I have had Covid last Dec. It was bad.....I thought I was going to die..... I was in the military, and support our freedom. I believe what makes this country great is our freedom and our right to choose how we live, and our pursuit of happiness. I also believe the government is too big, already controls too much of our lives, and in some ways is getting better and worse at the same time. For instance you can smoke weed in CA but now you may not have access to bacon, or if you do find bacon it will be 10X the cost in some black market bacon store.

P.S. can one of the Dr.'s on here tell me why I have such a bad case of diarrhea after visiting Hondurus?? My Covid was bad, but spending 10 hours on a storm delayed flight with Honduran diarrhea was down right hell....just saying.

I don’t know how any of you can make an absolute assertion of what the truth is. The information our government and media have provided throughout this fiasco has been worse than medical opinions during the dark ages. The hardest thing to understand, is how everyone is digging in on the ever flip-flopping “facts” of this pandemic. It shouldn’t be difficult at all to sympathize with the overwhelming distrust half of Americans seem to have. I see dozens of clients a month, and a lot of them have political bumper stickers on their vehicles. I can tell you that in my limited non-scientific polling, the distrust of information absolutely does not only follow one party line. There are very conservative folks who think non-vaccinated people are idiots, and very liberal people who will not get the vaccine because they are thinking of getting pregnant soon. Some of the reasons people come up with for not getting the vaccine are wacky. From tracking chips, to becoming magnetized. The dumbest people in this whole thing, are those who believe anti-vaxers are primarily from one side of the political spectrum. This too, is from false information designed to create a wedge. Historically, the anti-vaccine crowd have been hard left leaning hippie types, who homeschool their kids to keep them away from germs, and teach them about environmentalism. Believe it or not, there are tons of these people in the progressive trendy artsy cities, and are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I run into them several times a month. As Americans, we need to let people be what they want to be, unless your goal is to transform America into a society where there is no freedom. There is a large group of people who seem to think all their political ideas are so great, that everyone should be forced into submission. I’ll let you all figure out if that’s you.

LOL, not sure where you boat but there is no "gorgeous" water in Tampa Bay (especially now with red tide). The water really starts clearing up around Egmont Key and south of the Skyway. Nothing like thinking you going to hit bottom in 13 ft of water.

You are exaggerating a little aren’t you?

Regardless the media certainly is not a source for accurate medical information. They are out to sell advertising and will jump at the titillating points rather than the important facts.

Politicians also want to motivate you for their benefit.

With this being a nee virus causing a new disease with an immediate need for treatment. Information has rapidly emerged and evolved. The best information has been the consensus of peer reviewed journal publications. Non political scientists have made this their focus and provided good information from doing so.

Some points have remained consistent since December of 2019 for example;

1. SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes CoVID-19.
2. SARS-CoV-2 is contracted through the nose, mouth or eyes.
3. SARS-CoV-2 is emitted through breath, spit and excrement.
4. CoVID-19 develops after SARS-CoV-2 spreads to the lungs and is the result of the immune system attacking the virus in the lungs causing damage to lung tissue.
5. SARS-CoV-2, like other infections, causes blood clotting that can lead to bad outcomes.
6. Masking significantly reduces transmission.
7. Eye protection further reduces the risk of transmission.

Other points have evolved such as;
1. Concerns about surface or food transmission have reduced.
2. Vaccine availability has provided a way to reduce the risk of severe illness ~150 fold.
3. HCQ has reduced from a 50% probability of benefit to almost 0.

Unfortunately disinformation has remained strong.

Minus red-tide, anything south of county and north of county is pretty clear, certainly on the level of Miami water. I mean we continually have 2-3 beaches in the top 10 beaches year in/year out.

“You are exaggerating a little aren’t you?”
Ummm. No, I’m not. As stated previously, here is the “disinformation” provided by Dr. Fauci, and the CDC over the last year and a half.
“It’s no worse than the flu”. “ it’s 10 times worse than the flu“. “Wearing a mask won’t do you any good“. “You must wear a mask“. “Wearing two masks will make you safer“. “There is no evidence wearing two masks will help“. “Children are unlikely to spread it”. “Children can spread it”. “Asymptotic spreading is a problem”. “There’s no evidence of asymptomatic spreading”. “It absolutely did not come from a lab”. “It may have come from a lab”.
And my favorite of all… “A vaccine will not be ready in less than two years, and if it is it will not be safe”. “Everyone must get the vaccine”. Please inform us all, of which one of these flip-flopping statements of supposed guidance are the ones we are supposed to follow. Especially concerning the media, and government medical professionals telling us that Trump was lying about a vaccine being available within a year, and if it was, no one should be dumb enough to get it. I am in the stupid crowd, because I got it, and feel safer for it. I’m just confused, as to who is trying to kill me with the vaccine. Trump, or the democrats who said “his” rushed vaccine wouldn’t be fit for human consumption, but are now saying everyone who doesn’t get the shot is an uneducated buffoon. Even though they all told us, a vaccine that took less than two years to produce, would probably kill us. As you can see, there is zero reason to doubt the so-called authorities. SMH
