What did you do to your boat today?

Steering cable assembly came in late yesterday to I finished the boat this morning. Everything went smooth, I already had Everything cleaned an ready to reassemble. Found the perfect tool for the 22mm nut for the cable since it's recessed in its cavity. It's a automotive O2 sensor socket. Works like a dream.
Side note that the factory junk clear silicone isn't doing much sealing these cables. The stuff falls off with ease.
Everything is adjusted perfectly with the nozzles and the AK.

Nice shop!..said it before and I will say it again.

Finally got my 5 year Mother-May-I permission slip thru Virginia/EPA/Corps of Engineers, to cut the hydrilla around the dock..... we will see how long the "Grass cut" is good for. Contracted company with underwater hedge trimmer boat(best way to describe it) will be here Tuesday to cut and remove hydrilla around dock and cut me a weed free path to the boat channel. This weed barrier behind the boat currently makes for a 15 minute process to use the trolling motor to get past the weed line before firing up the motors. Without a trolling motor it wouldn't happen lol...... cant even get the jet ski out this year as the weeds didn't die out during the winter this year. Last two pictures were from Apr of this year.....First one is from last month at end of May installing trim tabs...

Is there a fine, or some reason they won't allow it? I'm not clear on how far or how bad this is for you, so I'm just wondering here, but they make any number of weed rakes, cutters, removers etc. My creek is like that, but we're fine to clear whatever we want. The short distance out to the lake is kept clear by boat traffic, and once you're out on the lake, mother nature keeps the rest in check for the most part.

Seems like dragging a weed razor behind your boat on the way out and in would help your situation, but I don't know the legalities of your area.

Once I get the half acre of weeds( like 200 ft to the channel) cleared by the contractor I will do something to help keep it clean..... for whatever reason even though it is an invasive species you cant just clear-cut without a permit...up to a 10K fine was mentioned because it disturbs wildlife habitat. I'm not sure about the Warden patrol schedule but there are several Law Enforcement agencies to include DWR that use the docks in our local marinas (literally at the end of my block)..... They already don't like me as I got the Maryland (Chesapeake Bay and Coastal Sport Fishing License 50$ to cover everyone fishing in the boat vs the Virginia Version Resident Tidal Boat Sport Fishing for more than 125$ this year) I would rather them just be giving people safety and DUI Checks rather than harassing me about my weeds lol.

Well whatever happens, I'm just going to warn you that you need to be careful around the water with 16oz of diquat, because if you were to accidentally spill it into 15 gallons of water, and THAT accidentally fell into the lake and evenly spread over the area, that could be catastrophic to any of those aquatic plants you're trying to cultivate.

I've seen it happen, and it's not pretty. It's like an aquatic Sahara desert.

Wife is at the beach this week, so I get to stay home by myself and work on projects. Cover rarely to never sees any kind of rain as it's stored indoors when not at our house. Noticed when I had it out it no longer would shed water. So cleaned it really good and put a healthy amount of 303 fabric guard. I normally do that every year, but didn't this year. 20240708_171451.jpg20240708_171502.jpg20240708_171506.jpg20240708_181436.jpg20240708_181451.jpg

Change the brake fluid on the trailer. Was surprised to see so much sediment in the fluid. Oh well all clean now.20240708_174854.jpg20240708_180138.jpg20240708_180307.jpg

Today I used the anchor for the first time and managed to put a small hole in the boat ?‍♂️

Just in the interior, fortunately. I was hauling it back up, cleaning some mud off it when I slipped a bit and banged it into the inner side of the gunnel. Seems to have cracked about a dime-sized hole just below the line of the upholstery.

It's not actually cracked all the way through, so I'm wondering about the best way to plug it up with the cracked piece in place. I'm not overly worried about aesthetics since you can't really see it, but I don't want any water getting in there and causing problems. Any ideas?

I didn't grab a picture but I will next time I'm out there.

Grab that picture and start a new thread on it... sounding like a DIY job already.

Busy day, I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck…..

Swapped out the scupper with the stainless steel version:

Installed my new Ark 750 trailer jack - what a beast:

Installed Boat Buckle transom straps:

At one point I had my head and both arms (past the shoulder) in the bilge when I was replacing the scupper and I thought I was stuck…….panic almost set in until I was able to wiggle an arm out.
I totally believe that lol I have to get in there as well and the first thing I thought of was I am going to have to get in there almost vertical!! ughh lol its always something

If you have someone that can hold the scupper from the outside it wouldn't be so bad. If you have to hold the scupper in position with one hand while tightening the nut with the other it is a bear!!!

I covered my guages’ deteriorating rubber buttons with some stickers suggested by another member here. They are not large enough to cover the buttons entirely and I didn’t realize they have a square surround but overall they still look a lot better than what I started with. $10 plus 10 minutes of time, good deal. This is how i did mine without help, 5200 then real good duct tape. It didn't budge.
I rarely have someone to help so i need to be creative

Always thought about doing this to my last boat. Was thinking cable winches. Curious what did you use?

2007 SX210 this season (so far):
  1. Replaced plastic OEM scupper with SS scupper from Attwood (part # 66553-3) as it was leaking.
    • On the thread side of the new scupper I marked the top with a marker so I could maintain the proper scupper orientation.
    • Applied 3M 4200 marine adhesive sealant to the outside and inside of the hull.
    • Removed the one-way scupper valve and fastened a string to the metal lip where the valve was fastened, ran the string back through the rear of the scupper and jambed in a rag in the scupper to keep the string from falling out of place, then attached a weight to the other end of the string and dangled it over the boat for constant tension.
    • Used two (2) adjustable wrenches to tighten the scupper in place.
  2. Installed Blue Sea Systems mini add-a-battery kit (ran out of red wire from switch to house batt.), added a new starter battery.
  3. Installed Rockford Fosgate P300-10 subwoofer/amp [no pic], currently sit in the general storage compartment.
    • Planning to move it to in front of the captain's helm as it occupies too much space in the storage compartment.
  4. Compounded and polished the lower hull, blue area only, as it was heavily oxidized.
  5. Replaced several loose cover clips on the cover and boat
  6. Replaced stern ladder strap.
  7. Fixed broken light on trailer.
  8. Replaced captain's chair bolts with proper (on-spec) hardware.
Some pics attached. Open to any questions.

Next:
  1. Add battery voltage gauge for starter and house batteries to glove compartment.
  2. Add USB charging to glove compartment.
  3. Add foam mat to glove compartment.
  4. Replace weatherstripping under windshield (it is dry/cracked and leaks).
  5. Replace weatherstripping covering windsheild screws (it has shrunk).
  6. Mount solar panel and voltage regulator.

Found water in the ski locker, bilge, and wet carpet in the rear port seat compartment 🤬

I think what happened is that I drained my transom ballast bag directly onto the transom last night before pulling into the marina at no-wake speed. Water must have leaked in via the oval-shaped access port (I already sealed one leak - the area around the hose port) and not had a chance to drain since I was going no-wake speed.

Does that seem most likely, given that the ski locker and the bilge have pretty much been bone-dry after most outings, even when surfing?

Installed GXM 54 antenna for Sirius xm weather & starlink mini.

I go offshore 2-3 times a week in the morning after dropping the kids off at school, so its nice to have signal for calls /messages.

The starlink mini can accept 12-48v, so I wired it to my 36v 105AH lifepo4 battery that runs the trolling motor.

The random looking wire on the left is the VHF antenna cable. It has a thru deck wire seal thing under the starlink.

I'm moving a little slow with upgrades. About to order my 3D registration numbers and was wondering where to put them. They look great in that location.
Thank you. Easy install. Some people put the numbers under the rub rail. On this model, IMHO it looks better above the rail.
