Turned 16 in April, 1976. Bought a 69 Mustang, exactly like this except mine had stock rims. 800 bucks of my hard earned money. Sold it 8 years later for 800 bucks. What a simple car to work on. Anyone know what $800 in 1976 translates to in 2017?

No, this is NOT a 1972 Orange Bug, lol...it's what I WANTED (still want) instead of the bug.
Parents obviously felt a 389, 4 barrel, 4 speed Munci with posi, was not quite as practical for a 16 year old as a 1800cc, 1 barrel, 4 speed IRS tranny.
What did THEY know? hahahahaha

1970 dodge polara. Donut master in the snow with 6 of your best friend and their gas money. Had one of those giant coffee table sized 80's speakers in the trunk for field parties.

And my 3rd car, with my son a few days ago. 1990 Toyota pickup. 321,000 and still purring along. Planning on sending him to college in it like I did.

Had to replace trans and shift linkage before I could drive it. you can bet I was out there every day tryin to work on it until it ran. 79 ford fiesta

Nice - that was my second car (1st stick), mine was not an "s" and was an aqua blue color.

First car was a 1984 ford ranger my dad bought! It was an old Air Force runway vehicle! He bought it in 1996 for 1000! It had 25000 miles on it! I made sure the next 10000 were the worst!

not my actual car but looks very similar,
first car I bought, maybe 19 yrs old in 1986,
maybe $2,000. I can't remember for sure, I friend told me about his older friend who fixed up cars, it was very generic and maybe had a 307 in it, it wasn't fast or loud (both qualities I wanted) and my tire package wasn't nearly as strong but it was pretty dependable for the 2 years I owned it, The owner gave me the car on a handshake for $200. a month

About a year in I had a better job and I bought a 69 chevelle 4 door that was jacked up and loud (mostly fake, it wasn't fast :-( )
about six months after I bought an 81 chevy custom deluxe (straight 6)

At that point I had three vehicles in the driveway and my parents weren't happy so the first two went on down the road,

I drove the Chevy for the next 10 years and it had aprox. 230k miles on it when I sold it since my wife got a new car ( the 1998 Avalon that went 19 yrs and 403k miles !!)
