Hello all,

Just picked up a 2009 Yamaha SX210 with 60 hours. Boat looks to be in mint condition. I live in Southeast Texas and will be splitting my time between Lake Livingston and Lake Sam Rayburn as I live halfway between both. Only mods I have planned for now is a stereo upgrade. Might look at a GPS in the future. Anybody have a clean mounting spot that is out of the way for a GPS? Hope to be a good contributor to the forum.

Not too sure about salt water lol. I’ve never put a boat in salt water.

Welcome! Nice Boat! I didn't think it was possible to find an '09 vintage boat with fewer hours than mine but you managed! Great find!

As an aside: Don't let that "list of issues" frighten you or make you think you made the wrong choice. Use it for the tool that it is. Every boat (or vehicle for that matter) has a list of known issues. It's just rarely compiled in one spot.

Wow I can’t believe 09 is considered vintage lol. This is the first boat I’ve ever owned. Chose the Yamaha Jet Boat route because my uncle owns an AR240 and I’ve always loved it. If I did go saltwater it would probably be cruising Galveston bay. Would love to check out Kemah from the water. First order of business will be radio upgrade. Some of the buttons on the radio are not functioning. I will probably use this as an excuse to the wife to go ahead and upgrade speakers also.

First order should be checking/changing your scupper and getting some kind of plug locks (in my opinion of course)

Hope to see you on the water one day!

I already checked the scupper after seeing comments on this forum about it. Mine still looks brand new. Is there something preventative I could do to keep it from being a problem in the future? Also, by looks do you mean to prevent the plugs from blowing up into the hatch cover? My uncles has done that and broke it.

The scupper can be deceiving, some members have reported seeing cracks on the outside flange while others looked ok but when they disconnected the hose on the inside the scupper fell apart. When I changed mine it still appeared in very good condition but changing from plastic to metal was a great peace of mind.

The plugs blowing up, it does happen and can result in a minor inconvenience of loss of thrust (ughh, I forgot to install the plugs) to what your uncle experience, a partially installed plug that blows under high pressure, good result is, it just breaks your cleanout hatch, bad result could be plug turns sideways and knocks the tube off the cleanout tray and then when you apply power you're pushing water straight into the bilge, not knowing why you're not going anywhere you apply more thrust = even more water in the bilge,

check out the cobra locks, they're relatively inexpensive and you can't activate them unless the plug is 100% installed,

Appreciate the info. Gonna check out those cobra locks and will try to get a look at the inside of scupper.

I strongly agree with @Scottintexas on this. You need to replace the scupper immediately and get the EZ-Locks for the clean outs. Then you heed to get that boat on the water and send us some pictures of your family enjoying it.

Well just brought the boat home today after one last lake test with dealer. On the way home the Bimini cover came unzipped and the wind ripped the Bimini cover to shreds. Ruined the excitement very quick.

Bummer! I think I bought from that same place (if it was the I-45 one--I know they have several).

Fortunately, it is not too hot out yet, so plenty of time to enjoy the boat without the bimini for at least a few runs. Never replaced that (hoping to never have to--not realistically). Do put something up on the board about what you get and how you replace it...

Oh, and welcome to the club and congratulations!
