Hey Guys,

Just bought a 2012 SX190 end of last year and will be picking it up from storage next weekend. I've read what seems to be every posting about yamaha boats and fitting into garages but they all seem to be about the AR's with towers.

So my question is would a stock SX190 fit in my garage, or if someone has access to there SX what are the dimensions on the trailer.

The opening is 83" by 9' wide. And the total length is approx. 20.5' long.

Thanks!

Yes it WILL fit but it's gonna be REALLY tight! I just went out and measured the outside measurements (wheel to wheel) is about 8'8" so you aren't going to have much room to play with. Is your driveway fairly flat? You may need a trailer dolly of some sort https://www.walmart.com/ip/Grizzly-H6241-Trailer-Dolly/174975824?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2634&adid=22222222227052808119&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=151648354472&wl4=pla-317861613767&wl5=9012291&wl6=&wl7=9012293&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113500125&wl11=online&wl12=174975824&wl13=&veh=sem like this one but here is a great thread that @haknslash started with tons of great info https://jetboaters.net/threads/how-to-get-your-2016-ar192-or-ar195-in-a-garage-less-than-7.10369/
We bought a 2013 SX190 back in Aug 2017 and my garage inside dimensions are 19' 2" and the boat and trailer were exactly 19'! Here is the thread I started https://jetboaters.net/threads/help-with-sx190-buying-decision-will-it-fit-in-my-19-garage.14869/ with pics on the fit. Good luck and enjoy the boat and the board here is fantastic! for info with lots of great folks that are willing to help.

Yeah I figured it would be tight! I'm cleaning the garage out this weekend and making sure I can squeak out every extra inch I can.

The driveway slopes away from the garage, so I think that will help a little maybe? I'm planning on backing it up close with the car and then pushing it by hand the rest of the way but we'll see. I have like a 1" lip from the garage pad to the driveway so that might make it difficult to push over.

We have the same lip if you can get a 1/2 inch board like a 1x3x8 or 1x4x8 and place it right up against the lip it will help with the transition into the garage. I think once you get her lined up with the opening you will be fine, if you don't already have a pair of chocks for the trailer wheels it would probably be a good time to buy some, this will help with the driveway slope and trying to deal with the lining up. You should have no worries with the height at 83" its the same height as my garage door and I have a couple inches to spare and the slope away I believe does help.

Most people have the 1" lip once in the garage. It's to stop water. Just get a good push and keep the momentum going and the tires will roll right over the lip. I do it every time. What sucks is if you push it in and don't get enough speed to get over the lip then the boat will roll back and you have to start over, so carry the momentum!

We had a similar scenario with a tight squeeze width wise. on top of that my driveway has a slight turn about 2 boat lengths from the garage so it's not a straight back-in job once in the driveway. We just unhitch the trailer from the truck about 2 boat lengths away then I push and pull the boat into position to go in garage with the wifey making sure it's going in straight (only about 2-3 inches of room on each side).

VERY interested in the trailer dolly if that'll give me more maneuverability at the tongue than the tongue jack. Is that what it's for or does it just help move the boat moreso north and south?

Yes this is exactly what they are for manuerving in tight spots with minimal force from you, you can go to youtube and search for trailer dolly and there are a lot of videos with various vehicles. I have tried a trailer valet and they are GREAT but very expensive.

@FLBulldogger ... Thanks, I spent about 15 minutes about the Trailer Valet. As soon as I confirm it'll fit on my Shoreland'r I think I'll go with that. $340 is pricey but the time it should save me getting the boat in the garage is worth it. You will now go on the list of members who have talked me into spending my $$$ !

I humbly apologize for the added expense but I did have a chance to try one (not on my boat) and it really worked well with the drill attachment, the ease of use was amazing, just wanted you to know the options. Don't think you can go wrong though considering your situation. Just let me know if you need anymore ideas on how to spend YOUR money :winkingthumbsup"
By the way we are originally from Fayetteville, so I assume you do your boating up on Falls Lake or Jordan Lake?

Yep, we live 5 minutes from Falls Lake. We have friends with a house at Hyco Lake so we'll be there at times too. 1st full boating season for us ... can't wait.

If you don't have a lot of slope to overcome, maybe something like this will work and you can spend the other $250 on new speakers and an amp. :woot: Or tell the wife it cost $350 and spend $600 on an amp, speakers, transome and helm remotes, dual battery set up, ....mwahahahahahh...:winkingthumbsup"

I used the Trailer Valet on my single axle trailers and it was perfect! When I got a twin axle trailer, the Trailer Valet couldn't turn the trailer at all. It takes a lot of power to turn twin axle trailers 90 degrees to get them into the garage. I've pulled mine into the garage enough times now that I can sometimes do it with only the truck. Other times, I just get the trailer's wheels over the 1" transition lip and then use my powered dolly to maneuver it the final several feet and up against the garage wall.

The Trailer Valet arrived this weekend. I installed it and did a quick test moving the boat back and forth some. For my driveway/garage situation, this will save me 15-30 min every outing and save my back.
