Boat in getting a full stereo system upgrade. Set of WetSounds Rev10’s were mounted/ wired to wake tower today. Next this week will be replacement of the 6 stock speakers, adding 2 more mid-cabin, 12” sub in helm (custom ported enclosure) and associated amps😀4E8325D1-4ADB-4BC3-AC4A-8FE4564D3689.jpegFE721532-3062-49A7-A5AA-57CF3981FB85.jpeg

Christ, man. I got anxiety just looking at that gaping hole where you cut. lol
Oh have no doubts, I spent the better part of an hour making a template, measuring, checking, double checking, and re checking. Even then I couldn't physically make the first cut. Good friend took the saw and gouged the fiberglass in the center of the cutout area and said "See, now you have to fix it".

All the prep time paid off. Took about 20min to cut it out, and the door fit perfectly, looks centered, and about as close to a factory installation as I could hope for.

Finally got around to lubing my reverse buckets. Those were a pain enough.....not sure I really wanna go at my steering cables. Looking up into the column it looks like a daunting task.

Right side did well at 74 psi and started to get fluid out. It was slow going though. Came out milky and nasty at first then nice and dark purple. I used Royal Purple gear lube 75w-90 since I had it on hand. Left side I cranked it up to 80psi with no fluid movement, 90psi....nothing, then up to 100psi and it finally started to come out. I had to leave to head to the hockey game so I just left the tubes up pressurized.

I mainly did this as my shifters were super stiff, particularly when going into reverse. It wasn't the tensioners either, it was the same with those all the way loose or not. It was so tight that I'd have to jam it down, but sketchy thing with doing that is sometimes in the process I'd floor the gas by accident momentarily.....which for docking you could imagine is not ideal.

These cables are now butter smooth and can move the buckets with just a finger or 2. We'll see how it is when it's all back together. I imagine next season I'll need to replace these. Steering feels fine, but likely need to give those a go. Just really don't wanna mess with them as it looks like an absolute pain.

A few years ago my neighbor bought a new boat and wanted a hole for a subwoofer in the back and a hole in the dash for a stereo remote- he was too nervous to do it himself he begged me to come over and do it. No problem I said- not my boat! Then I got to sawing! lol

Sometimes my favorite mods are the simplest and cheapest. This one ran me about three bucks. I don't know if I'm mentally deficient or something, but I simply could not get this cargo net to securely hold a trash can. Added a hook to the can to loop the cargo net through, now its nice and secure.

Also, my new favorite cleaning combination. Dremel Versa with the soft bristle brush attachment, and Mary Kate Vinyl Cleaner. The Versa has enough battery to do the whole boat, though was starting to die just at the end (though this was my first cleaning of the year, so took longer). Will be great for quick cleanups and any spills on board. Did a wonderful job on seats and seadek, and I'm probably going to add an extra USB port behind the helm to keep it charged up on board.

@seanmclean how many trash cans do you need?? Didn’t you post another one in your head compartment awhile back?? Or, did I steal that idea from someone else, lol? I can’t find the original post for anything right now, but here’s the one that I used.

Attached with 2 zip ties. I drilled 2 holes in the can and zip tied to the towel bar. Not positive that was necessary, but it’s definitely secure now. Wife says it’s on the small side. 4-5 Gatorade bottles will probably fill it, but should work great for the kids snacks and little wrappers.

Edit: after looking at those pics, it may not be obvious... but the can is hanging on the towel rod. The zip ties are just keeping it from bouncing off in possible chop, not actually holding it up. Also, wife says will probably use typical bathroom size bags, not kitchen size.

I can’t figure out what to do with that net. It looks too big for anything. I can’t get it to stay on for anything.

Ha, I think you stole that trash can idea from someone else. That babycan would last us about fifteen minutes at the sandbar :)

Big day! Picked her up from Stokley’s Marine, and had the first beverage on board. Being in the driveway was not a deterrent!
I realize the name is not obvious to everyone; but if you get it, I want to talk to you!🍺
