What is “Ridesteady for Yamaha”?

Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines. There are many other features as well that can be viewed at www.hydrophase.com/yamaha

Why would I want this?

Yamaha jet boats, despite their many advantages, are difficult to keep at a precise speed. Ridesteady handles this for you automatically. It is particularly nice with water sports, but also beneficial for cruising. It allows the driver to focus on steering the boat safely, rather than fixating on the speedometer. Life is much more relaxing for both the driver and rider.

How difficult is it to install?

Ridesteady for Yamaha works directly with the throttle signal electronically, so no motors are needed to install. Light wiring work is required at the helm (tapping into the ignition switch wiring), as well as some “plug and play” operations on the engine side. A video of an install and the full installation manual can be viewed here: Install Guides & How-To Videos | HYDROPHASE LLC

How easy is it to use?

Ease-of-use was considered from the beginning of the design process. While there are many features, it is designed to work out of the box. The rotary knob makes changing set speed and settings quick and easy.

What Yamaha boats is Ridesteady compatible with?

2006-current AR210, SX210, SR210

2010-current AR240, SX240, 242 Limited

2012-current AR190, SX190, 212SS, 212X

2013-current AR192, SX192

2017-current AR195, SX195, 212 Limited, FSH190

2018-current FSH210

2021-current AR250, SX250, 252S, 212S, 212, 195S

Also, many of the videos that @J-RAD has posted showing off his wide variety of surf board options were filmed with Ridesteady in use. He's a great resource for knowing how different surf boards perform behind Yamahas.

Guess its Ramen for the next month. Order in with Air and Water temp sensors. FedEx is definitely not giving you good rates though.

One of the best aftermarket mods for these boats, hands down; amazingly useful for both wakesurfing and non-wakesurfing audiences.

I like to think of it as a... "poor man's fly-by-wire" system for non-E Yamaha jetboats. I use it in the ocean in conditions where adjusting binnacles to make small RPM adjustments and trying to synchronize the engines can be tough when bouncing up and down in chop, easily adjust RPM with the nob.

Thanks! I LOVE my Ridesteady! It is a MUST HAVE for watersports. Perfect for consistent wakeboarding, surfing, skiing, Zup, even cruising in RPM mode. I love the full time engine sync. We use it all the time. It is one of the best mods I have done. No paid endorsement here, just a satisfied customer for 4 seasons.

To add to this thread, let me say there is nothing gimmicky about R-S and RPM control in chop.
Our boats simply tend to pound on plane in rough water, so small throttle adjustments in non-E boats can be somewhat difficult; in contrast, boats with E-throttles have binnacles that are WAY smoother and have the "single lever" option - which helps tremendously. Non-E boats don't have that and if you want to make small adjustments for best ride (few hundred RPM up or down) - forget about it when the hull is pounding.
here is a short clip, riding in very moderate 1-2' waves off NJ coast, actually pretty nice conditions for here; my trim tabs are deployed 100% (you can see the trim tab indicators around 30" mark in the video), I'm riding VERY NICELY at only ~20mph (I was with the admiral so I had to be nice, lol). I can adjust RPM/speed in 20 (?) RPM increments, no problem with the knob, even with gloves on. I love it.

Ordered. @Ridesteady thanks for putting on the sale. Not sure I will have my boat out of winter storage by May 1st but I will do my best to do an install review on my Ar192

Yes, RPM mode is great for those kind of conditions! GPS would be too jerky (unless perhaps you turned "response" way down), as the speed of the boat would be changing a lot as it hit the waves.

You can adjust it in 10 RPM increments to any speed your engines can hit (down to 4000 RPM), while maintaining engine sync.

Thanks for sharing one of your use cases, @swatski !

I agree. A must have for these boats. Used it everytime out no matter what we were doing. Looking forward to our second season with it.
