It is one unit, hence I said cable. But it is both of them in a sealed unit. That apparently can rust out, bind and have other issues.

And since it is one unit there is no way to tell which side is having the issue.

I've used "Ed's Red" on many a seized item, O2 sensors being the worst offenders. not certain how well it fits your situation, but keep it in mind. Valvoline Maxlife should be at your local Walmart. in your case here, i'd skip the acetone mix and go straight ATF

In my line of work we use Kroil. It creeps to one one thousandth. That’s what they claim. It works! I.E. O2 sensors, exhaust pipes etc. What did George Zimmerman use to say? “I guarantee it”

I have some, and it's legit, but it stinks to high heaven, and I had 2 O2 sensors that it wouldn't help. Ed's Red had the benefit of following up afterwards, so you could say the Kroil might have helped whatever came after it, but after the 2nd problem, my Kroil has sat unused. I will say that my can of Kroil has had some stains around it, so I can attest to the creep, but I think in this instance, if he were to get any in the helm, that stuff would take some effort to get the stink out if he got any on the carpet.

For stuff like O2's, I'll start putting it on as soon as I know I need to take it out, hopefully I get 3-7 days. Twice a day, if possible, and I hit it with a smoothing bit in an air hammer just to help it work in a bit faster.

Did you separate the rack from the wheel to rule out the possibility of a stiff wheel?
If you haven't already, it's best to isolate the cable, or cables from everything and check for movement of each part that the cable drives.

Gonna go outside and hookup the Port side and let it go for a few hours. See if can get further up to the helm.

Port Side doesn't seem to be moving at all. This is the stuff I am using. Hooked up to compressor at 75 psi.

Hell it still works for toilet base gaskets and those are what I buy when I need more wax.
Great advice on packing with bees wax! Thanks!

Also, here's a mod to your fins that I recommend... it allows me to disconnect the steering cables without having to disassemble the fins:

The important point is that the yoke bolts are now installed from the bottom up (and the locknuts are on top). Therefore, I can pull the bolts out without the fins getting in the way.

I’m not sure if you would be able to push or pull on the cables with the jets disconnected either way. I’ve never tried it but I would think the gear ratio avoids this happening or you’d be fighting the thrust at the wheel a lot more if that makes sense.
On my boat, with the cables connected to the jets, I can move the rudder and the steering wheel spins. Before I lubed the cables, this was not possible. I should also mention that I put a ton of grease on the steering rack. It didn't have much grease on it when I first pulled it off the steering column.

Mine doesn't have much grease either.

I am still pushing some lube through the cables, but I ordered a new steering cable assembly for $400 which I should have in a couple days. If the lubrication works I will return it and do warranty work at the end of the season. If not it looks like I can do it in a few hours or so and not too bad.

I just don't plan on being without a boat for a month or more waiting for it to get done. Furthermore, if it is very tight, would hate for it to seize while underway or on the water miles off shore.

Update. I just went outside and the Starboard cable had oil pushed all the way through it up to the Helm so a bit is coming out of the black gear box. That is great. Steering is still stiff though, so I assume that the problem is with the Port cable. I can't really get much if any to push through there. I hooked it back up and increased pressure to 80 psi. Waiting to see what will happen.

Ok so I had a talk with my alien friend about this issue you are having, he said you should attach a high sped sander or some other primitive electronic device we Earthlings use that will cause some fast and serious vibration in the cable to loosen the rust etc and hopefully help you inject oil in it and he said if anyone makes any jokes about the vibrating object he will fly over your house and abduct you , teach you a lesson you won't forget and then drop you off wandering down main street naked and afraid. So don't

Ok so kidding aside think about this you get the nozzle end of the cable attached to a small sander using rope ,duct tape, what ever you can and have it vibrate the inner cable as you work the cable and it just may loosen all the garbage inside the cable housing.

@Cobra Jet Steering LLC Ok I just hooked it up to my oscillating tool on low and it was vibrating pretty good for 15 minutes. Took it off and put the Lube Hose back on it still won't let me push any oil and is still hard to turn no change.
