Sunset was pretty awesome last night on LOTO. Going to be a good week on the water!

@Cleveland Steamer How is that trip down to MKE? Do you guys stay fairly close to shore? I’d like to try it, but a little nervous to go out on the Michigan...

My thoughts exactly. :)

We’re strongly considering a slip rental at McKinley Marina in downtown Milwaukee over Labor Day which is also the first weekend of Summerfest. The River scene in Milwaukee looks nice and being able to pull up close to the Summerfest grounds and listen to live music would be a blast.

Trip was awesome! I keep an eye on the wave forecast. 2' to 4' waves isn't fun. But if the forecast says 'near calm' to 1' then it's game on! Just because that lake is big doesn't mean it's always rough. There are plenty of days when it's smooth like glass. I like running close to shore when under way because it's so cool to see the shore line but typically don't go too far from shore. I've gone a good 1/2 mile off of shore and it's all good.

Big Cedar (West Bend) is our go to lake but it gets sooo busy on the weekends and feels small at times as all you do is go in circles when tubing. We really like Lake Michigan because it's so big and you can go any direction at any time. As long as it's warm enough and the waves are 1' or less we'd rather do Michigan over Big Cedar.

The run from Port Washington to Milwaukee was great. Took about 45 minutes doing 32'ish MPH (ran the motors at 6,000 RPMs the whole way and only went through a 1/2 tank of gas). The bluffs and homes are awesome to look. Cruising the river was great. There were sooooo many people & boats. We go up to Oshkosh at least once a year and stay at the Best Western on the river and that's cool to see all of the boats. However, Milwaukee was WAY busier and so much more to look at. I'd love to do it at night sometime. Near Milwaukee the water is brown but up by Port Washington it's crystal clear blue. We anchor like 5' from shore and walk the buffs. It's miles of not seeing anyone or any boats. Feels like your own little Bahamas.

I live in Jackson/Cedarburg.. I'd be happy to meet you at Port Washington and show you how the big boys do it. =)

Wow, sounds great!! :)

I live in Jackson right by the rec center and dry stack my boat in Oshkosh - directly across from the Best Western. The next time you get up to Lake Winnebago let me know and we’ll meet up and have a cold beverage. :)
